"Derek!!!!" Y/N squealed as he approached her by the bar in the hottest club in Beacon Hills, Inferno. "What are you doing?" She slurred between giggles as her fingers trailed up Derek's chest and her other hand holding a martini. It's without a doubt alcohol had taken over her system.

Y/N caught her high school sweetheart, Jacob, in bed with not just some random woman, but her archenemy since high school, Becky. Since sophomore year, Becky has been trying to steal Jacob from Y/N, but never in a million years did Y/N think Jacob would actually cave into Becky's lust, especially after 6 years of being together.

"Lucy called and asked me to take you home," Derek yelled over the loud techno music as he took the martini glass from her hand and placed it on the bar.

"Whyyyyyy?" Y/N draped her arms around Derek's neck, pulling him closer to her and started swaying her hips with the beat.

Derek placed his hands firmly on her hips, stopping her movements. "Because your drunk and she cares about you."

Y/N groans. "Why is she such a worry wart?"

"Because she's your best friend and she loves you," Derek started pulling her towards the exit. "Let's go."

"Wait! I need my purse."

"Where is it?"

"At the table," Y/N started walking back towards the table but lost her balance. Derek immediately caught her before she could fall.

They finally reached the table, only for Y/N to sink herself in one of the chairs, causing Derek to groan. He didn't mind picking her up and taking her home, he just hates that she's making it harder than it should be.

"Sit down for a bit," Y/N patted the chair next to her.

"I'm fine. Please get your purse, so we can leave."

"It's somewhere," she mumbled as she ducked her head under the table looking for her clutch purse. As soon as she found it, she reached for it. "Owww!" She pulled out from under the table and rubbed her head.

"Are you okay?" Derek leaned in to check the bump forming on her head but Y/N misunderstood the situation and leaned in, pressing her lips against his.

Y/N quickly pulled back when she noticed Derek wasn't kissing her back. Her hand flew to her smeared red lips. "I-uh-I'm-"

"Let's just get you home, please?"

She simply nodded and let Derek lead the way to his car.

The entire drive was silent and painfully awkward. The radio was off and only the sound of the engine purring echoed. Y/N wanted to apologize but she was too embarrassed to even look at Derek. So instead, she opted to look out the passenger side window, seeing Beacon Hills in a blur.

Derek's eyes never left the road. Not because he was focused on driving but because he had no clue what he was supposed to say or do after the kiss. All he was told to do was to take her home. There were no further instructions. He didn't know how to take care of her.

Derek pulled up to Y/N's driveway and went around to open her door. Y/N walked up the front door with her arms hugging herself. She reached for her keys in her clutch purse.

"I got it," Derek took the keys from her hands and opened the door for her.

"Thanks," she mumbled as she walked across the apartment to her living room. She plopped herself on the couch.

Derek closed the front door and walked into the living room. "Where's your Advil?"

She wasn't drunk anymore. The kiss had sobered her up, but she went ahead and answered Derek's question anyways. "Left top cabinet in the kitchen."

In a matter of seconds Derek came back with Advil and a glass of water. "Take these."

Y/N popped the two pills in her mouth and drank the entire glass of water. She focused on the rim of the glass, tracing it with her index finger. She felt warm tears well up on the edge of her eyes.

Derek could smell the sadness and guilt radiating off her. He began shifting his weight from one foot to the other, knowing what's bound to come next.

"I'm sorry," Y/N sobbed.

Derek looked around the room, hoping someone would pop out and help him. His eyes landed back on Y/N, who had her head in her hands as her shoulders shook.

"I didn't mean to kiss you," Y/N's voice sounded muffled as her face was still in her hands.

"I know," Derek slowly walked towards her and stood in front of her.

"I'm still mad at Jacob for cheating on me and I thought alcohol would help take my mind off it." She pulled back from her hands.

Derek sat next to her and patted her shoulder once, like if she just scored a run in a baseball game and the coach rewarded her with a pat on the back. He really didn't know how to handle this situation. He's never had to comfort a girl before. His sisters were werewolves who defended themselves when it came to boys. If a boy did anything wrong or hurt them in anyway, they never held back on kicking their asses on their own.

Y/N looked down at her fingers. "Is there something wrong with me? Like was I not pretty enough?" Y/N bit her bottom lip before speaking once again. "Was I not enough?" Her bottom lip trembled.

"You are enough," Derek answered her question.

"Derek," Y/N sighed. "I know you don't like to get in touch with your inner emotions and like to be Mr. Stone Cold tough guy, but can you just hold me and tell me everything is going to be okay?"

"I can try." Before Derek wrapped his arms around Y/N, he lifted her face up with two fingers and wiped away the little black rivers down her flushed cheeks. He looked into her eyes and said, "It's his lost because you are more than enough. You... You're Y/N and there's no one else as great or as wonderful as you."

Derek slowly wrapped his arms around Y/N. He had never been a hugger and Y/N could tell by Derek's stiffness as she wrapped his arms around his torso.

Derek cleared his throat. "I want to kill him for hurting you." His muscles began to ease a little at the sound of chuckle escaping Y/N's lips. "Can I please punch him the next time I see him?"

"You have my permission."

Y/N could feel Derek smiling.

"Y/N?"

"Yeah?"

"As long as you're my best friend, I'll always have your back and I'll always make sure to tell you everything is going to be okay."

Y/N smiled as she let out a small sniffle. "You've been my best friend since high school and I've never seen you trying to comfort someone. So... thank you." Y/N tightened her grip around Derek.

Derek squeezed his arms, giving her a tight hug before letting her fall asleep in his embrace.
