I walked into the break room with the new officer following right behind me. It was her second day with the force and she was shadowing me for the day to learn the ropes around the office since she can't go out on the field just yet. I'm a deputy, just like my husband, but since I'm about 6 months pregnant Sheriff Stilinski has me doing paper work until I'm back from maternity leave after the baby is born, which I'm grateful for. I've been with the Beacon Hills Police Department for five years and it's nice to have a boss who's not only great and understanding, but also caring.

I waddled my way to the fridge like a penguin and got the Tupperware container with my name "Parrish" on it. I moved to the side for Sophia to get her lunch. We sit on the small round table towards the back of the room. I sighed in relief as I rest my feet on chair across from me. What I would give for a foot rub right about now.

"That looks good," Sophia said as I opened my container.

"Just a regular old plain salad with no dressing, not exactly my first choice," I stabbed the lettuce with my fork. "I rather have pizza, a chili cheese hot dog, or a beacon burger."

"Why don't you?"

"Doctor says a healthy baby, is a happy baby," I move my hand towards my baby bump. "Plus, my husband rarely lets me have junk food. He's so concern about what the baby is eating."

"Not many husbands worry about that," Sophia said before taking a bite of her delicious pasta.

"I know and I think my husband is just nervous about any little thing because this is our first."

"Really?!" I noticed the excitement in Sophia's eyes. "Do you guys know what you're having?"

"No, it's a surprise." I took another bite of my bland salad. "We want to be surprised. I want a boy and Jordan wants a girl."

"Jordan? The Deputy?"

"That's my one and only," I smile at his name.

"That's cute. Do you mind if I ask how y'all met?"

"Of course not." I take the last bite of my salad and closed the container. I set it aside and started playing with my wedding rings that now hang on my silver necklace because my fingers have been swollen with the pregnancy for the past couple of months. "It was five years ago-"

"There you are beautiful," Parrish walked in with a smile on his face, which immediately brightens my day. He's been out patrolling the streets all morning and I hadn't seen him since he kissed me goodbye after we clocked in. "I brought you a surprise."

"I love surprises," I say as I notice he was hiding something behind his back. Then my nose flared at a familiar scent as Jordan walked towards me. "You didn't!" I said with an eager smile on my face.

"One brownie with nuts from your favorite local bakery," Jordan placed the brown paper bag in front of me on the table and I immediately let out a small groan as my mouth waters.

Jordan chuckles before giving me a soft kiss on the top of my head. "I figured why not stop and get one for my girl on the way back from patrolling."

"That's so sweet," Sophia chimed in.

"Oh, hello! I'm sorry! I completely just ignored you." Jordan lent out his hand. "I'm Jordan Parrish."

"Sophia," She shook his hand.

"You're the new officer. It's nice to finally meet you." Jordan let go of his hand from hers.

"Likewise, your wife was just about to tell me the story of how you both met."

I felt both of their eyes on me as I took a big bite from the brownie. I let out a soft moan and closed my eyes savoring every moment I had with this brownie.
