1780- Night had fallen in the sky and Connor and Eva rode down a dark dark trail. Without a lantern, they could barely see what lied ahead of them. The footsteps of their horses were the only real noise that was heard until a twig snapped. They stopped in their tracks and looked around. "What was that?"asked Eva with a bit of terror. Connor pulled his tomahawk out and said, "Stay quiet, Eva." They listened intently and hard. They heard nothing. The night fog had rolled in though and the breeze got chilly. Connor used his Eagle Vision sense to spot something but nothing could be seen. So they rode on; at a faster pace.
To break the silence, Connor said to her, "You know, the lighthouse is just over there. I believe Watson will be inspecting it when we find him." Eva still spooked said, "Maybe. But this whole ghost thing really has creeped me out. It truly is frightening." Connor looked at her, reassuringly, and said, "Do not fear. It is all just a regular investigation of a dark lighthouse and a Templar contact." The idea of Templars eased Eva a bit, having her realize who the real enemy was. Then, the lighthouse was in view as they exited the forest. It was tall, dark, and as the moonlight lit the side of it, it's complexion made it look even older.
Eva and Connor tied their horses onto a nearby post that had been meant for any passing traveler. "Look,"said Eva with a fright in her voice as she pointed to the top of the lighthouse. Connor looked up. Due to the moonlight, though, Connor couldn't make out what was up there looking down upon them. It was a silhouette of a tall, dark, figure that walked away from their sight. Connor said, "Let's get closer." Eva and Connor stealthily stepped up behind some land formed rocks. They peered around it to see if that phantom was still there. But something rushed in front of the light. It was still there.
Eva took out her sword, and Connor drew his tomahawk. Connor took her hand and they both ran up toward the lighthouse. No sign of Watson was to be seen yet. Connor looked up the side and said, "We'll have to climb up to the top so that we may kill it." Eva replied, "I agree. But whatever is up there, I don't want to have to deal with it for very long." Connor nodded and they both began to climb up. The climbing hurt their fingers a little but they were fine for the most part. They finally hung from the top, preparing to ambush it.
Then, at Connor's signal, they rushed up, and hopped on the platform. But when they looked around, no one was there. Then Eva screamed. Connor looked behind and saw a dark cloaked figure standing with an axe in its right hand. The face wasn't noticeable because of the lighting and the dark hood covering it, like Connor's. It growled at them. Connor readied himself in a fighting stance and the dark phantom charged, with the axe. Connor parried the blow with his tomahawk and surprised it with the ignition of his hidden blade. The Assassin sliced at the creature at the chest. The phantom screeched, and Eva stabbed her sword into it. Then, the ghost dropped its axe, and disappeared into thin air. They both were breathing heavily. Connor said, "Perhaps we should have went another way." Eva said, "I agree." Then they went back down the old lighthouse, and someone called out, "Connor Kenway?"
Connor turned and saw a man walking up to them out of the woods in a frontiersman outfit with a hunting rifle in his hand. He went to them and Eva looked at Connor. "Depends on who's asking," replied Connor in a serious, but cautious, tone. The man bowed and said, "The name's Watson. I am with the Assassin Brotherhood Order and I have been investigating this lighthouse for a few days now for a ghost that is said to be killing people and animals in the frontier. Even the local Indian tribes have claimed its presence to be notably sighted. The facts and clues that I have gathered indicated that the ghost tends to disappear in mid air. Are you aware of this, Master Kenway?" "Yes," answered Connor, "We have fought it ourselves a few moments ago. Once it was stabbed, it died and dissolved into nothingness before our eyes."
Watson looked at Eva and said, "And you, miss...." "Eva," said Eva as she smiled at Watson and shook his hand. "Pleasure, Sir Watson. I was with Connor when we fought the ghost." Watson said, "Hmm. Miss Eva, there is something I would like to give you to Connor." Watson handed her a key. She was confused, but gave it to Connor. Watson stated, "It's a key. It is said to unlock any lock whether big or small. I would appreciate it if you two would go out and seek for me a mysterious murder investigation in Boston. Word from the Assassins has reached me that a woman was killed down a coastal country road. The executed killing was to her, stabbed in the torso, and cut in the throat. She was killed quickly though, and the killer was never found. They say that he killed her, then just disappeared."
Connor thought about it hard. "How much money, will you pay?" Watson answered, "£1,000 pounds worth of gold coins. Sound fair? Deals with money are in your family, I hear, Master Kenway." Connor knew that Watson was referring to Connor's grandfather, Captain Edward Kenway of the Jackdaw. Connor wasn't a pirate himself really, but he did associate himself with things that revolved around the subject and it seemed to interest him. "All right then. I will seek out what you ask. Just keep in touch with other nearby Assassins about the whereabouts of this ghost killer." Watson smiled and shook Connor's hand. Then Connor and Eva left.
