1781- Eva went through the yard and up the wooden planks of stairs to the porch. Connor, with the lantern in his hand, followed her with Israel, and they both went up with her. The porch was old and wooden, and an old rocking chair was bumping against the old, wooden, wall. Eva looked through the dusty window that was on the wall and took the lantern from Connor, trying to shine the light inside of the interior of the house. She saw nothing.
Connor looked around the porch and said to Eva, "Do you see anything?" Eva replied solemnly, "No. There is nothing in sight." Israel went to the door and tried to open it up. The door was locked, and felt as if it was shut well. "The door will not open. It is well secured from the inside," Israel said to Connor and Eva. Lightning flashed and rain began to pour. Thunder was heard all around. "A storm is coming," said Israel, looking out. Connor went over to the door and kicked it open. That instant, Eva went inside the doorway and, lifting up the light of the lantern, saw that the door hinge and lock completely ripped off the door. Eva said, "You couldn't have thought about opening the window, Connor?" Connor just went inside with a serious face.
Inside the house was old couches and a table, and old pieces of furniture. Dusty portrait hung on the walls. They were revealed by the light of the lightning that flashed with the roll of thunder from outside. The darkness seemed to engulf the interior. Israel and Eva entered the house and the lantern lit up the house. Connor saw other hallways and a staircase which lead to the upstairs. Connor saw far into the living room area a basement door and knew that there was more to the house that they couldn't see. Lightning continued to flash.
"We should split up, and search the house for the Ghost. This is a huge house and we will cover more ground if we part." Eva agreed with Connor and said, I will take the first floor and search the area." Israel said, "I will take the upstairs and see what is up there." Connor then nodded and said, "Very well, then. I shall search the basement. It doesn't make sense that their is a basement when this house is on a swamp, but I shall see what is down there." So then, the Assassins split up to their areas.
When they went their separate ways, Eva had given the lantern to Connor, and went down a hallway. She held her pistol in her left hand and her tomahawk in her right hand. She progressed slowly into the hall. A window lit up the hallway's end and the lightning flashed. On the left, she came up to a door and then, she slowly opened it. The room that she opened up the door to showed pitch black. Darkness was absolute in this part of the house. But then Eva went in and saw a candle. She pulled a match out and lit up the candle and took it in her hand, lighting up the room. She saw that it was a bedroom and saw that it was unmanaged. She went over to a dresser and saw a black book on it. She set down the candle and opened up the book. She blew the dust off of it and saw that it was a book about sailing and it held amounts of information in it about piracy and about combat on the sea. Then, the sound of a footsteps was heard. Eva quickly put the book down and then she grabbed up the candle and aimed her pistol toward the doorway. No one was there. She then relaxed and stopped aiming. But then, the door shut hard on its own and Eva practically jumped back from it. The light of the candle flickered and then a bookshelf, on the wall to the left of the room fell forward onto the floor. The crash was a huge sound and no one was there to push it down. In panic, Eva went to the door and tried opening it. To her terror, it would not budge and so she was stuck now in the dark room. Then her candle went out, and she turned around with her pistol aimed in that direction. She saw nothing but the dark of the room. Her breathing was getting faster. She went over to the candle and scrambled into her pocket for another matchstick to light it with.
She finally lit out of the matches and then put it onto the candle wick, which burned. Her breathing was still fast. Then, the boards of the room began to creak and moan and the walls began to sound like they were pushing each other for space. The sound was similar to how a ship sounds below when on the sea. Eva looked around the room to see why that was happening. Then, everything went quiet. Even the stillness of her breath. "Behind you," came a whisper in her ear. She screamed and turned with her pistol aimed at the direction of the whisper. She shot it and it hit a mirror on the wall, which shattered into into pieces. She looked at a remaining piece of glass on the mirror and saw her reflection with the lit face of an evil, angry, woman behind her shoulder from the candlelight. Eva turned and saw no one. Then she turned and heard a voice that said, "Beware. Beware." That was all Eva needed to know.
