A/N: I know Ashlyn's birthday was like in May, but oh well. Anyways, here it is.

The next day was a tough day for the Gage household. Ashlyn and Daisy worked from five o'clock in the morning until two o'clock in the afternoon to get decorations up, invite people, and order two cakes which was a surprise for Ashlyn and Lea. Once everything was finished, Ashlyn laid on the couch to rest.

James walked in and sat down next to her. He smiled at his tired and overworked sister. His smile disappeared when he saw the bruises on her neck. "Ashlyn, who has been hurting you? Your neck is bruised," James said looking at her.

"It's a very long story, James. I'll tell you about it later, but for now, I've got to get ready before dad gets home," Ashlyn said getting up off the couch. James still gave his look of concern until she disappeared up the stairs. Johnny came home soon later. He was worn out tired and just wanted to sleep. Little did he know was that sleep would be the last thing he would be able to get.

"Daisy, I'm home!" he yelled from the door.

"I'm in the kitchen!" Daisy yelled.

"Not another party!" Johnny joked once he saw Daisy trying to hang a banner.

"Yeah. It's for Ashlyn and Lea."

"She knows about Lea now?" Johnny asked.

"Yeah. Lea and her mother were in a wreck the other day. 51 rolled out on the call, so I had no choice but to tell her," Daisy said as she tried to hammer a nail. Johnny helped her out.

"It's still hard to believe that Ashlyn is a paramedic."

"I know. It's seems like yesterday everyone was at the hospital waiting to see her," Daisy said with a smile, "That reminds me. I need to ask you a question about Ashlyn. You're not going to like it."

"Let me guess. Another boyfriend?" Johnny asked with sarcasm.

"Sorta. He wanted permission first," Daisy started.

"Who is it?"

"Nathan," Daisy said.

"Her partner? The one that's related to Chet?" Johnny exclaimed.

"That's the one."

"He has to prove it to me that he will protect her."

"Uh, Johnny," Daisy started but was interrupted by knocking on the door.

"I'll get it," Johnny said as he got up to get the door. It was Lea and her sister.

"Hey you guys," Daisy called from the kitchen, "Lea, Ashlyn is upstairs if you want to go talk to her." Lea nodded then headed upstairs with her sister following close behind.

"What's with the scarf?" Lea asked once they reached Ashlyn's room. Lea's sister went to sit on Ashlyn's bed.

"Covering up the bruises from last night's fight," Ashlyn said as she brushed her hair out. She called Lea after she got home and told her everything. Lea nodded.

"I understand. I'm glad your lover boy was there to beat him up," she said with a laugh.

"Not you too! Everyone at the station is already bugging me about that. They've placed bets on when we'll have our first kiss." Lea laughed then helped Ashlyn finish her hair. She braided it then wrapped it into a bun. "We better head downstairs and help." Lea nodded then followed Ashlyn.

-The Party- (A/N: Didn't think you all would want to read all of the preparations)

"Happy birthday!" everyone in the room yelled. Ashlyn and Lea laughed then blew out the candles on their cakes. Ashlyn's cake was shaped like a squad like the cake she had when she was two. Lea's cake was light blue with an Autism Awareness ribbon on it since she worked with special needs kids.
