Ashlyn's POV
"Ashlyn, baby, it's time to start," my mom said from the door. I looked back at the mirror and smoothed out the white dress. I have waited for this day since I was a little girl. My wedding day. I nodded toward my mom. She smiled brightly and helped me with the veil. The two of us walked outside the bride's room to where my dad would be standing. He smiled his crooked smile and linked his arm through mine.

"It seems just like yesterday I was holding you at the hospital," he whispered to me. Tears were building up in his eyes.

"Oh, daddy, don't cry. I'll always be your little boot," I told him with a smile. He smiled back at me before he looked back toward the closed door of the church. The "Wedding March" began to play from inside, and the doors opened. Dad looked at me and took a step. I followed alongside him and looked ahead toward the alter where my soon-to-be-husband stood with a bright smile. His face brightened when his eyes connected with mine. He walked forward to meet me and my dad when we reached the end of the aisle. Dad kissed my cheek, gave Nathan a warning look, and then went to sit down next to my mom. I walked up the few stairs and stood in front of Nathan with my maid of honor and bridesmaids behind me and his best man and groomsmen behind him. I watched his face the whole time I recited my vows and he recited his. Finally, it was time for everyone's favorite part.

"You may now kiss the bride," the priest said with a smile. Nathan grabbed the back of my head and yanked me forward into a kiss. Cheers sounded out around the church along with some sobs from Chet. Adam pat Nathan on the back. We smiled at each other before running down the aisle hand in hand to the reception party.

Hours passed as everyone danced. Nathan and I were dancing to a slow song and enjoying our night together. "Huh," Nathan said out of nowhere.

"What?" I asked in confusion.

"Just thinking about the past year with you. You've gone through a new job, a stubborn captain, a psychotic dude that wanted to date you, found out about your aunt and cousin, started dating your partner, got shot, several bad rescues, and finally married me. A lot of trouble if you ask me," Nathan said leaning forward, "Not bad for a girl on her own," he said before connecting our lips in a kiss. One of many to come.

"Yeah. Not bad," I said with a smile and continued to dance along to the music with him.
