"We know full well there's just no time, so is it wrong to dance this line? If your heart was full of love, could you give it up?"

-

I awoke to the slight sound of snoring, my head lifting up to see Kayde with his mouth agape. I chuckled, confused to the fact as to how I even fell asleep in such a small, itty-bitty tiny space. Alec was fast asleep in the corner of the room with Clove in his lap, and Emery at the foot of the bed on the floor. I glanced outside of the hospital window. It was still night time, however, the vibrant colors of orange and yellow mixed together began to float to the tip of the sky. I huffed a small breath and slipped out of the hospital bed, wiping the sleep away from my eyes tiredly. Everything was silent. I was always scared of hospitals, mainly because me and Emery had always had an odd fetish when it came to Abandoned Hospitals or Asylums in scary movies. Something about them just made the movie ten times more horrifying.

Quietly, I tossed open the door to the hospital room and loped out into the hall way, head forced down. There weren't that many people in the hallways, but you could still hear the faint sounds of rushed footsteps here and there as you walked. My steps were fragile and slow. I would be a liar if I said I wasn't scared to turn a corner and be attacked by a zombie or something.

"Miss, are you lost?" I whirled around in panic, catching glimpse of a tall, slender girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes looking at me curiously. I shook my head, stopped, then gave a pointed expression.

"I am trying to find a snack machine," I chuckled shyly. She painted on a cheeky grin and waved me towards her as she began walking. "Thank you." I smiled.

"No, you would be dumbfounded if you knew how many people ask me this same question a day. I might as well stop asking." She laughed, holding a rolled up paper to her chest. I smiled. "I apologize if I startled you, by the way. This place can get kind of scary at times like these."

"You're telling me," I looked inwards on her name-tag. "Jules. Pretty name." I said, turning around a swift corner and beginning to walk down another long, seemingly endless hallway. The girl turned to me and giggled earthly, having a vibe that just made you feel so happy all over, her wavy blonde hair swinging over her shoulders with ease.

"Thank you." It wasn't often that I made conversation with strangers, but at these times, when you are only filled up on hope and prayer, it seems like the best thing to do.

"I am Avalon, it is nice meeting you." I said. She smiled again and nodded. We finally reached the snack machines.

"Do you need help finding your way back to the room, Avalon?" Her smile wasn't as evident as it was before, and she looked kind of stern in the face, but I shook my head.

"Thank you, Jules. I think I have it from here." For a moment, she stood and looked at me, then kindly turned around and sauntered off. Confused, I quickly shoved my hand in my pocket and pulled out a dollar, inserting it in the machine and looking at the decisions. Another hand made mine, though. "Hey!" I cried out, turning around to see a smirking Alec. He leaned down to retrieve it from the box and then unwrapped the candy bar wrapper, taking a large hunk out of it with a sly smile.

"What?" He asked, eyebrows raised. I huffed angrily and shoved his shoulder aside, digging in my pocket for another dollar. All I had was a five and a twenty.

"You ass, I was hungry." For a split second, he looked sorry, then busted out laughed.

"I have some money in my pocket if you wanna reach for it.." He smirked, biting his lower lip. I gulped and moved away from him, shaking my head. I began to stroll back to the room at a leisurely pace.

"Pedophile." I grumbled. He took hold of my arm firmly, pulling me back. My head whipped around as quick as I had been pulled back, eyes glaring deviously.

"Pedophiles only go after girls who don't like it." He grinned toothily. My mouth fell agape, and I quickly pulled away from him, crossing my arms.

"I do not like it." I hissed.

"Mhhmm." He hummed rhythmically, taking a bite from the candy bar. I rolled my eyes.

"You annoy me so much." I whined. He shrugged, walking past me and down the hall, back towards the room. With my candy bar. How absurd is this shit, ugh. My face fell flat and I walked along, except, not to the room. Instead I went to go find Tanner and Blake. I knew they didn't leave, yet. They wouldn't.

-

For about thirty minutes I searched, until I spotted the two leaning against the glass frame of the courtyard, outside. I quickly paced myself towards them and threw the door wide. They both turned their heads, forcing a small grin at my arrival.

"Hey." The both spoke in unison. I stood on the side of them, eyes distant and arms crossed, pouting like a toddler. Tanner was the first to notice my little fit. Probably because Emery does it as well, and they seem to hang out quite a lot.

"What happened?" He asked, curiosity leaking from his lips. I shrugged, swallowing a large intake and then releasing it back into the moist air. "Avalon." He scolded. I brought my attention towards him, scowling.

"That bastard stole my candy bar." I growled. He stood, trying not to burst out into laughter, but it went quicker than expected. Right down the drain. I scoffed. "It is not funny, Tanner!" I snapped. Blake placed a sore hand on my shoulder, laughing as well.

"Y-You mean Alec?" He choked, howling like a basset hound.

"No, Jesus. Yes Alec!" I cried, crossing my arms like a child and huffing out an agitated breath. "I am really hungry, too, so." As the two began to calm down and look at me, Alec hurried himself through the courtyard, face pale and eyes dark. The kind of eyes that confused me so much. It was as if no expression filled them, they were empty. This act was the complete epitome of his 'something is wrong', look.

"Alec, what's wrong?" Blake asked. He was the first to speak up, furrowing his eyebrows and straightening his posture.

"It's Kayde," He answered shakily, his eyes flickering towards mine and swallowing up my entire existence. In a matter of seconds I felt my body quiver and tears fall with no effort. My breath hitched in my throat and everything began to feel numb. I did not want to hear the last words he said, to say the least. I had hope. Faith that Kayde would pull through and move on from this downfall. But in those fractions of a single second, I felt myself crumble to the nothingness. "he's gone."
