We had all gone our separate ways and I was with Faith and the twins. Hikaru had his arm around me while Sakaru had his arm around Faith. We walked into the sliding doors of a mall. Teenagers and families filled the area.

“Want to get some ice cream girls?” Sakaru asked. We nodded and made our way to a simple Marble Slab Creamery.

“What do you want Faith?” Sakaru asked her.

“Mint chocolate chip,” she smiled. Sakaru ordered for him and her.

“What do you want Gwyn?” Hikaru asked with a sort of bored tone.

“Can I get a chocolate and vanilla mix with rainbow sprinkles mixed in?” I asked the guy in Japanese. He nodded and went on with the order. Hikaru ordered a plain vanilla cone and when they gave us our ice cream I paid the man his 1158 yen. I sat down at a table and ate to eat my ice cream but it seemed like everyone had a different idea.

“Come on Gwyn, we want to go,” Hikaru complained.

“You guys can go, I’d rather stay,” I said.

“Hikaru why don’t you stay with Gwyn, we’ll see you guys later,” Sakaru said.

“No I’m going with you guys!” he shouted. Sakaru gave him a hard look and Hikaru stared back to him just as harshly. I heard Sakaru sigh and mutter the word “fine”. He gave me a small smile and waved at me.

“We’ll see you later Gwyn, call us if you get lost,” he waved sheepishly.

“See you later, guys,” I smiled and waved. As soon as they walked out of the creamery, Sakaru slapped Hikaru in the back of the head. I giggled when I saw Faith’s incredulous expression and she hit him too. The last I saw of them was him scowling at the two before they got lost in the crowd. I shoved a spoonful of colorful ice cream in my mouth and smiled. The table shook and someone had their hands on it. I looked up to see a young man, probably about my age, with straight dark brown hair and he had a pair of glasses over his big brown eyes. He wore a black jacket and a white button up underneath with a black tie tied around his neck. He wore black jeans and white sneakers.

“Hello,” he said. His English was nearly perfect and his voice was as smooth as silk.

“Kon'nichiwa,” I said slowly with a look on my face that hopefully said “Am I saying this right?” He chuckled and I’m sure I made the right face.

“What are you doing?” he sang.

“Uh, eating my ice cream,” I said in a “der” tone.

“Right, so would you like me to show you around the mall?” he asked.

“What’s your name kid?” I asked.

“Ren Kobayashi,” he stated.

“Well Ren, it was nice meeting you but I got to catch up with my friends,” I said. My phone vibrated and a picture of Eli and I popped up on the screen. “Excuse me,” I said. He swept out a hand, gesturing that I was excused. I answered the phone and turned away from him a bit. “Hey,” I beamed.

“Hey Gwyn, how are things in Japan?” he said. He sounded worn out.

“Things are good, are you okay?” I asked.

“Yeah, just a bit tired, I mean it is like midnight here,” he chuckled.

“Wow, big time difference,” I said. “It’s 3 PM here.”

“Lucky you,” he chuckled. “Having fun?”

“I’d be having more fun if you were here,” I pouted. I heard him laugh.
