Chapter 12:Gustav's Explanation

This is Yannied's POV.

"Yannied!"a voice called from outside my house.I was moping around in my house,feeling miserable at the thought of Castaway being all alone.I opened the door to see Hiccup outside."We got Gustav,but not Castaway.He's gonna tell us why he took Castaway.You have to come,"Hiccup explained."Of course I'll come!I'm gonna strangle Gustav,and then I'll take him to Stoick and demand-,"I was cut off by Hiccup telling me to calm down.I pursed up my mouth and seated myself on Toothless after stroking him.We shot off to the Academy where the whole of the gang were.

"Guys,thanks so much for trying to find Castaway for me.I really appreciate it,"I thanked the gang.They smiled in reply.Then,I spotted Gustav cowering behind Fishlegs.I strode up to him and grabbed his collar roughly with one hand.I lifted him into the air."But you,"I glared at him,"you I am not thanking,"I whispered dangerously. I raised a fist,ready to strike Gustav."Yannied,hold it!"Astrid caught my fist and lowered it."I know you're mad,but just hold it in until later,"Astrid said.I gave a cry of frustration and threw Gustav down on the ground.I glared at him and stood to the side.Gustav whimpered.He got up and dusted himself off,taking his time.I felt my patience running out.

"Hurry up!"I barked fiercely.Gustav jumped.He gave a small sigh and started his story.

"Last night,I asked Yannied if I could borrow Castaway so I could ride him.But Yannied refused to,saying that I was careless and injure Castaway the minute I rode him.But I didn't,"he protested before anyone could retort.

"Well,where is he,then?"Hiccup asked.Gustav scratched the back of his head and looked sheepishly at the floor."Well,about that...,"he trailed off uneasily."He got away from you,didn't he?"Astrid questioned,crossing her arms.Gustav looked at me and stiffened,probably because I looked like a human bomb that was about to explode."Yes,and I don't know which direction he went,"he admitted.I felt my face start to burn.Not with embarrassment,but with fury.I hadn't reached my boiling point yet,lucky for Gustav.

"I was riding Castaway and we were headed for an island,which was quite far away from the shore.We were above the sea when he just threw me off and flew away,"Gustav finished."Why did he throw you off?"Hiccup inquired,probing further.Gustav fumbled with his fingers as he gulped.He glanced uneasily at me."Can...can I not say it out loud?"Gustav asked.Hiccup shook his head.Gustav opened his mouth and muttered something."Speak up,"Hiccup ordered sternly."I hurt him to make him go faster,"he whispered.But I heard it,even though he was quite a distance away from me.That's when I reached my limit.

"YOU DID WHAT?!"I shouted furiously.Gustav stepped back,trembling."YOU HURT HIM?WHAT DID YOU DO TO HURT HIM?!"I continued,advancing towards him."I...I only k-k-kicked and h-h-hit him a l-little,"Gustav stammered.When I heard the words'kick' and 'hit',I let loose all hell.I pounced on Gustav and pinned him to the ground.I managed to punch his face a few times,screaming,"THIS IS WHAT CASTAWAY FELT WHEN YOU HURT HIM,YOU BULLY!"Gustav tried to protect his face with his arms.Just as I was about to twist them,I felt someone pull me away from Gustav.

"Yannied!Calm down!I know you're mad that Gustav hurt Castaway,but you can't take it out on Gustav.We'll give Gustav the proper punishments,but you have to calm down first,"Hiccup said.His authoritative voice somehow made my anger subside.I nodded in reply to Hiccup.Astrid had grabbed Gustav to prevent him from running away.

"Gustav,you knew that the Number One Dragon Rule of Berk is that you are never allowed to hurt a dragon!"Hiccup scolded severely.Gustav hung his head."It is a serious offence,so for your punishment,you have to sweep the dragon stables for two months,"Hiccup said.Gustav nodded grumpily.He left the Academy,dragging his feet.
