Chapter 15:I Wish

I opened my eyes to hear murmurs.Sitting up,I looked around."She's come around,"someone announced.Hiccup and the rest turned around to see me."Yannied!You're okay!"Hiccup exclaimed.He extended his hand to help me up.I tried to lift up my left arm to grab Hiccup's hand,but it refused to move."Hiccup,my arm...It can't move!"I panicked.Astrid came over and hauled me up so I could stand."I think it's fractured.You must've injured it when you fell off Hogchaser ,"Hiccup said.Astrid went and rummaged in a nearby chest.She brought out a roll of bandages and helped me to make a cast for my fractured arm.

"You'll need to rest it for about three weeks before it's healed.But you should still be able to do almost everything.And be extra careful when you're on-,"Hiccup grinned,gesturing to behind me.I turned to see my beloved dragon:Castaway!"Castaway!You're back!You're finally back!"I cried,running up to him.He nuzzled into my shoulder.

"He went back to his normal self right after we got rid of the Dragon Root,"Fishlegs informed me.I could only smile at them weakly.Hiccup strapped on Castaway's saddle.I held on tightly to the saddle with my good right arm and flew home."It's so wonderful having you back,Castaway!"I whispered contentedly,scratching his chin.We landed smoothly in front of the house.This time,I did not lock Castaway in his stable.I led him into the house and up into my bedroom.

"Yannied!We heard from Snotlout that you got your arm fractured!Are you okay?"my parents burst out as they opened the front door."I'm fine,perfectly fine!I just need to rest my arm for three weeks before it's completely healed,"I reassured my overly-protective parents.I had to spend the rest of the evening explaning to my parents what happened and what I did.Then,I was finally allowed to retire to my bedroom.I looked around my bedroom for Castaway to sleep.My bedroom was quite chilly,so I had to find the warmest spot for Castaway to sleep comfortably.My gaze strayed over to my bed,where my blanket lay in a messy heap."Castaway,lie down,"I pointed to a corner of my bedroom.He curled up in the corner and stared at me.I grabbed my blanket and draped it over Castaway.Just as I was about to go back to my bed,Castaway grunted loudly.He took the blanket in his mouth and threw it back on my bed.Then,he opened his mouth and torched his whole body with his blue fire.The blue flames stayed on his body for a minute before they went out.Fascinated,I touched his skin.It was hot from the fire.

"I gotta tell Hiccup about this tomorrow,"I decided.I got into bed,pulled the blanket over my head and shut my eyes,giving in to the temptation of sleep.

~Next Morning~

I woke up to find Castaway gently nosing me.I sat up and yawned loudly."Okay,boy.Let's go get you some breakfast.Then,I'll go tell Hiccup what you did last night,"I stroked his head.I slid out of bed and trudged downstairs sleepily,stretching with one arm.My parents were still asleep in their bedroom.Castaway followed me downstairs quietly.I opened a basket and retrieved two salmons from within.I tossed them to Castaway,then got out of the house and made my way to Hiccup's house.I knocked on the door loudly.Hiccup came to answer."Hi,Yannied!How's your arm?"he asked."Perfectly fine.Anyways,I came to tell you something I discovered about Castaway last night,"I began,"Last night,I brought Castaway into my bedroom because I wanted to spend a night with him.My bedroom is really cold,so I decided to give him my blanket.But the moment I put it on him,he took it away.Then,he just torched his body with his fire.He didn't set himself on fire in the way Monstrous Nightmares do.That can be something to add to the Book of Dragons,right?"I questioned."Let me see what he did.If he can do it again,we'll add it into the book,"Hiccup decided.

"Could you hand me a blanket?"I asked.Hiccup quickly ran upstairs to his bedroom and fetched me his blanket.I threw it over Castaway's body.He took it off again,but did nothing."Maybe it isn't cold enough to make Castaway torch himself?"Hiccup questioned.I shrugged uncertainly."I guess we have to go somewhere cold to test it out,"I said.Just then,Astrid came flying towards us at top speed."Hiccup!The twins and Snotlout are causing trouble in the Academy again!"she reported."Not again!Did they set fire to the map?"Hiccup groaned.Astrid nodded."Yannied,maybe we can look into Castaway's special ability some other time,"he said,mounting Toothless at the same time.I nodded in agreement and watched as Hiccup and Astrid flew off towards the Academy.

"I wish I could be like them someday."
