Chapter 13:Finding Castaway

"Okay, now  that Gustav's out of the way,we can deal with Castaway,"Hiccup declared.Everyone sighed with relief, except me.I was worrying too much about Castaway.

"Hiccup, how long can a dragon survive without food, considering the fact that the dragon doesn't know how to catch a fish?"I asked Hiccup."Not for more than a week,I'm afraid,"he replied."Look,I know what you're thinking, but Castaway is a hardy dragon.Surely he can survive, and we can find him before a week is over,"Hiccup reassured me.I looked at him doubtfully.

"Guys, let's head out and look for Castaway.Fishlegs, you go with the twins and search the north.Astrid,go to the east.Snotlout, search the west.I'll be at the south. If you find Castaway, give a dragon call.Yannied, your task is to take Mulch's dragon and search Berk, just in case he's there.Mulch's dragon is the fastest Gronckle that can be tamed quickly,"Hiccup instructed.I nodded.Everyone split up.

Iran all the way to Mulch, who was busily talking away with Bucket."Hey,Mulch!"I called."Hello,Yannied! How may I help you?"he yelled back.I ran up to him, panting endlessly."I...need your...dragon!"I gasped between several pants."Why?"Mulch questioned, raising an eyebrow."Long story...But I...have to because...Hiccup told me...to,"I finished, trying to catch my breath.Mulch hesitated for awhile."Alright, but if I ask Hiccup later and he says he never said anything, you are in deep trouble,"Mulch warned me.I nodded and went to Mulch's stable.A purple and blue Gronckle lay there in the stable, snoozing comfortably.I quickly recapped everything that Hiccup taught in dragon training.

"Hey,girl,"I whispered. The Gronckle cracked open its eyes.It growled fiercely and raised its club-like tail."Okay,um,boy,"I murmured."Look,I need you to help me find my dragon. Please?"I begged softly.I extended my hand and stretched out my palm."Please help me.I don't want to think of my dragon all alone, scared and hungry,"I muttered. The Gronckle looked away from me,then looked back,as if thinking whether he should help me or not.I decided to look away instead. After a few moments,I felt scaly skin under my palm.I turned my head to see the Gronckle nosing my hand.I grinned and stroked his head."Okay, boy, let's get out there,"I said.We flew out of the stable.I saw Mulch and a question crossed my mind."Mulch! What's his name?"I yelled."Hogchaser!Because that's what he does,"Mulch shouted back.I nodded and thanked him.

Hogchaser and I flew all over Berk, with me continuously yelling,"Castaway!"But there was no sign of my green-blue dragon.I bit my lip worriedly."Come on,Hogchaser. We gotta find Castaway,"I patted his head gently. He grunted heavily.

Just when we were about to search the mountains a third time,a ferocious roar resounded throughout the entire village."Hogchaser,to the east!"I commanded.Hogchaser flew as fast as he could to the east,in the direction of the roar.

Out of the blue,a Titan-wing Deadly Nadder rose into the air and shot its magnesium blast everywhere, setting a house or two on fire.Hogchaser  started whimpering and began to hover unsteadily."Whoa,whoa,whoa.It's okay, boy.Just fly up higher.I need to see what's going on,"I whispered soothingly.Hogchaser grunted reluctantly and flew up towards the commotion.

What I saw was a huge surprise. There were five dragons crowded round a hole, spitting fire at each other. But what truly surprised me was that Castaway was there with the dragons!

"Castaway!"I yelled excitedly.I landed Hogchaser near the dragons, slid off him and ran to my long-lost dragon."Castaway!"I shouted again.Castaway saw me,but snarled and roared at me.I was taken aback.Usually,Castaway would be really friendly and loving, especially after missing his rider for a whole day-and-a-half."Castaway,it's me,Yannied.Your rider,"I said, stretching out my palm.Castaway stared at me,then roared again before continuing his attack on the other dragons.

Something was definitely wrong with Castaway.
