Dragon Root

 Chapter 14:Dragon Root

This chapter and the ending of the previous chapter was inspired by Episode 15 of Defenders of Berk.It's called 'A Tale of Two Dragons'.Go watch it!

After contemplating on what to do for a few minutes,I decided to call Hiccup and the others.Walking away from the group of wild dragons,I whistled a wolf whistle as loudly as I could.

A few minutes later,Hiccup and the others came flying towards me.They landed nearby and dismounted their dragons."What's going on?"Hiccup queried."Well,I found Castaway,but he's acting really weirdly.He attacked the other dragons,and acted hostile to me when I tried to confront him.The other dragons are fighting each other too,"I reported.Hiccup's expression suddenly changed into one of realization."Fishlegs,this sounds like-,"he began."I think it is,"Fishlegs replied."Then we need to keep our dragons away!"Hiccup warned."I'll have to pull it up again,don't I?"Fishlegs groaned."Guys,if you don't tell me what's going on,I'm getting my battleaxe,"Astrid warned,arms akimbo."Dragon Root!Remember that,Astrid?"Hiccup asked."What's Dragon Root?"I questioned."Dragon Root is like dragon nip,but much more powerful.And instead of calming the dragons down,it makes them go absolutely insane and want to rip each other apart just to get it,"Fishlegs explained."Fishlegs,you have to go and hover over the middle of the dragons and see if it really is Dragon Root or something else.The rest of us will back off,"Hiccup instructed.Fishlegs mounted Meatlug and flew to the centre of the commotion and looked down.Then,he nodded to Hiccup."It's Dragon Root!Stay back,everybody!"Hiccup commanded.Everyone led their dragons away from the Dragon Root.

"Hiccup!I have a problem!The Dragon Root is to firmly implanted in the ground!Meatlug can't pull it up alone!And the dragons fighting for the Dragon Root are seriously out of control!If Meatlug goes near them,she'll be killed!"Fishlegs called.I looked over at Hogchaser.A brilliant idea popped into my mind."Hiccup!I can help!Hogchaser's a Gronckle as well,so that means that he won't be drawn in to the Dragon Root!I can try to keep the other wild dragons away from it while Fishlegs pulls it out!"I suggested excitedly,the words shooting out of my mouth like a rocket.

Before Hiccup could say anything else,I jumped onto Hogchaser and flew to Fishlegs and Meatlug."Fishlegs!I'll keep the dragons away while you get the Dragon Root out!Do it quickly!"I ordered.Fishlegs nodded immediately and dived into the hole where the Dragon Root was."Hogchaser!Spew!"I pointed to a Deadly Nadder.Hogchaser spewed lava in front if the Nadder.It jumped back."Lava blast!"Hogchaser aimed a stream of lava at a Monstrous Nightmare.It roared at us angrily.We both kept keeping the dragons away from Fishlegs and Meatlug while they tried to pull out the Dragon Root.

"Yannied!The Dragon Root is too difficult to pull out!"Fishlegs shouted.I bit my lip,thinking of a solution.What happened next was a blur.There was the sound of an incoming plasma blast.It blasted the ground near me.Then,a straight row of Deadly Nadder spines zoomed past my eyes.A blast of hot fire almost scorched my shoulder.Then,Hogchaser and I were knocked out of the sky with an explosion.We crashed into the ground.I was thrown off Hogchaser violently.Then,I blacked out.
