38. A Test of Sorts

HI. I just wanted to say thank you if you've been keeping up with this story, I've been having some writers block.  It's hard, but I'm pushing through for you guys.  Hope you like this chapter.  

"Do we have to go back? I know Luke is just going to be all over you and I hate seeing it.  You should not have forgiven him that easily.  I mean, he did cheat on you, twice.  That is pretty much the sign of a dick if I'm being honest here," Mikey said as we were driving back to Abby's after we had finished our ice cream and decided we were too tired to do anything else.  To be honest, I know that I shouldn't let Luke off that easily.  I definitely haven't forgiven him completely.  He has to prove that he won't do it again.  I just haven't figured out how to test him yet.

I looked over at Mikey whose eyebrows were creased and he looked like he was seriously thinking about something.  "Straining your brain there?" I asked trying to lighten the mood a bit.  Mikey just rolled his eyes and ignored my comment.  "Seriously, what are you thinking so hard about?" I pestered and poked his arm a few times to try and provoke him to tell me.  

"I just don't want you being with him.  I mean, obviously I'm the better choice here," Mikey said and I laughed a little bit.  Someone is definitely jealous.  More than I thought he ever could be.

"Mikey, I don't know.  I want Luke to prove that he is serious about this.  You can help me think of a test if you want to."  I really do want Mikey to help me with this.  He's a great guy, and hasn't ever cheated on me before.  So, I don't know.  I grabbed Mikey's free hand with mine and gave it a mall squeeze.  "Pleaseeee."  I stuck out my bottom lip and gave him my best puppy dog eyes.  

"Fine.  I'll help you.  But if Luke fucks up, can I have a chance?" Mikey asked almost in a whisper.  I thought about it for a minute to leave him in suspense and leaned over to him and whispered a small "maybe" into his ear.  A small smile popped onto his face and at that moment we were back at Abby's.  We had been here for a while, I really need to get home some time soon.  We hopped out of the car and went inside where Bella and Cal were chilling on the sofa and Abby, Ashton, and Luke were nowhere to be seen. 

"Hey guys.  How was the Manni day together?" Bella asked us when we took the spots on the other couch.  I recapped the day for her and Cal and they both agreed that we were adorable and that next time they want to tag along with us.  Yup, only our friends.  

"Oh hey, where is everyone else?"  I had forgotten for a few minutes that our other friends weren't there.  Cal explained that they had gone to the store because all of us had eaten basically all of the food and practically everything else in the house.  Just a tip, don't invite us over if you don't want to be going shopping almost every other day.  "Did they say when they were gonna be back? I have to talk to you guys and Ash and Abby about something," I said and Mikey explained about how we were going to test Luke quickly in case they were home soon. 

"That's a great idea, a little mean, but I can see how it will work since he's cheated on you before.  Cal and I are definitely in," Bella said and got this evil looking smile on her face.  A few minutes later we saw the glow of headlights through the window.  "Alright, we're gonna send Luke back to the guys' house to get something so that we can all come up with a plan.  Ok?" Bella said and her and Cal got up and met Luke at the car.  I saw through the window that he looked a little annoyed but got into the car and drove off.  After he was gone, Bella and Cal quickly pulled Abby and Ashton back into the house and into the living room where Mikey and I were sitting.  

"Now, you might be wondering why you were brought here.  Actually, never mind, you basically live here," I said to Abby and Ash, "Anyway, we need a plan.  One to make sure Luke is serious about this whole relationship thing.  You guys have any ideas?

Ashton and Abby looked at each other and spoke to each other in whispers for a few seconds.  "We've got the perfect plan," Abby said.  This is gonna be good.

Yes! It is kind of a short chapter, but this is leading up to a very long chapter, so be prepared.  I'm planning on updating within the next week so don't worry about another month-long waiting game.  So please vote and comment, Do you think Luke is gonna pass the test?
