Jason

I was playing 2K when my other phone rang. Only two people had the number to this phone...and they both meant money. I paused the game and picked up my phone from the living room table. It was Trina.

AN: Some of you probably forgot who Trina is. She is the girl from the beginning of the book who was Drake's ex girlfriend. She had a daughter and said Drake was the father. However, this was proved untrue, and we find out that she only wanted Drake for his money.

"Jason, are the plans still in action for tomorrow? Because you know I'm a businesswoman, and I don't play with my money." Trina smacked into the phone.

"Well damn, hello to you too. But yea, you straight. I'm meeting up with her tomorrow. " I resumed my game, and held the phone to my ear with my shoulder.

Trina no longer had an attitude. "Good. Now, what's going to be your excuse for being in Canada?"

"My girlfriend is from Canada, and we're visiting her family."

Trina laughed. "Girlfriend...who the hell would want to date you?"

Jason smacked his teeth and muttered: "you."

Trina's laughed halted. "What was that? You can say that a little louder and kiss that $30K goodbye."

"Man, whatever. Now when am I going to get my money?"

"When they break up, and I get Drake." Trina chuckled a little.

"And what about Chris?"

"He's fine. I have him locked in a safe place. He's so drugged up that he probably doesn't even know his own name." Trina laughed again, hysterically this time.

"Alright, now get off my line. I'm trying to play 2K right now."

"Yea, whatever boy. I have things to do anyways. Bye." Trina hung up the phone.

I was just getting back into my game when the phone rang again.

I growled and picked it up again without looking at the caller ID. "What, Trina?"

"Trina? What the fuck are you doing talking to Trina?" It was a man's voice. Drake's voice.

"Oh, my bad Drizzy. That's my girlfriend's name." I lied. I couldn't believe I almost blew my cover.

Drake paused for a moment before speaking again. "You couldn't tell you had a girl the other night when you was all up on Dani."

I sucked my teeth. "We still on that? There was nothing going on between us."

Drake got angry. "But, what about that agreement we had. I gave you your 50K, and I told you long ago not to talk to Danielle again. You and I aren't cool. Stay away from my family."

I sighed, holding back from going off on Drake. "Yeah, okay." I hung up the phone.

Riiiinnngggg !!

I sat up from my bed. I looked over at my phone, and it read: private. I ignored it, and rolled over to the opposite side of my bed. On that side, there was my dresser with an alarm clock on it. The clock read 12 noon. I sighed. I sat up in bed and remembered that I had that meeting with Dani.

I stood up, extended my arms, breathed in deeply, and exhaled bringing my arms back to my sides. I proceeded into the bathroom and took my morning shower.

Upon showering, I went back into my room and grabbed a t shirt and a pair of jeans. I brushed my hair and put on cologne. I had enough time before I had to leave, so I played 2K until it was around 2:15. At that time, I left out the house and drove to iHop.

I got a table for Dani and me and proceeded to wait until she arrived. At around 3:10, Dani came walking into iHop.

"Good afternoon Danielle," I greeted Dani as she sat down at the booth.

"Good afternoon." She smiled a little.

The waiter asked for our drinks, and we continued to look at the menu once he left. Besides the flipping of our menus, our booth was awkwardly quiet.

I decided to give Dani a compliment. "You look beautiful. Your perfume smells amazing as well."

Dani flipped the page in her menu absentmindedly. I almost thought that she didn't hear a word I said until she muttered, "thank you."

I realized that the moment Dani walked in here that I was nervous as hell to tell her the truth. I know Dani really loves Drake, and she doesn't trust me at all. I still couldn't believe that she agreed to meet with me alone. As far as I know, she could have someone watching us right now.

To calm my nerves, I tried to start a conversation. "So how's Tamara?"

Dani flipped the page in her menu. I thought she was going to ignore the question until she said, "fine now that you're not in her life. But, how's Ethan?"

I had to admit, I deserved that one. I did try to take Tamara away from her. But, it was because I wanted Dani to myself. I know it's selfish, and I have learned a lot since then. I even went to a professional for 6 months to help me cope with that situation.

"Ethan's great. He's been staying with his grandmother; I figured she would be a better parent than I would. I visit him from time to time. He asks about you and Tamara still."

Dani got fed up. "Jason, we didn't come here to talk about our kids. What is the deal with the Chris situation?"

I was dreading for this time to happen. I sighed and took a sip of my tea which was just placed on the table by the waiter. Luckily, I had a little more time to get my thoughts together because the waiter had just asked for our orders.

After we ordered our food, Dani impatiently waited for my reply. "Are you wasting my time? I can just leave right now if you're going to just look at me."

I immediately refused. "No, I want to tell you. But, I'm just concerned about how you'll feel. I don't want you to be hurt."

"Jason, you didn't care about my feelings when you tried to get rid and make a replacement of my only daughter."

"Dani, I'm sorry. I've changed, and I want you to see that." I lowered my voice. "Drake hired a hit man to kill Chris. I was just supposed to be the person who told him a job was done. I never knew what the job was, but I just figured it was something that would give him a bad reputation as a star. I didn't know it was this until it was too late." I confessed.

Dani shook her head in disbelief. "How can I trust that you're telling me the truth?"

I pulled out my other phone. "I have the proof in here."

Dani still wasn't convinced. "But, Chris just texted me last night."

I was caught off guard. "Chris texted you? No, it can't be."

She unlocked her phone and showed me the text. "Well, if not, then someone has his phone.  Someone who wants to meet with me."

I looked down at the text. "No matter what you do, do not reply back to this text message. Do not meet this person anywhere."
