Chapter 4

Danielle

 I got home at about 3:15 PM. I showered and changed clothes before texting Jaycee:

Hey Girl! How have you been?

I'm good, a little stressed since I have to do your work and mine too.

Usually, Jaycee and I worked in my dance studio. But, I haven't been able to go to the studio since I'm working on Drake's video. Jaycee is the only other person I trust to handle the business, so she's been filling in for me.

I'm so sorry! Send me some assignments, and I'll try to do as much as possible. 

Alright; Check your email.

Jaycee and I decided to Facetime as we did our work. I told her about the video and when Drake kissed me. 

"Oh my gosh; my best friend did not kiss Drake!" Jaycee squealed.

I rolled my eyes. "You know how I feel about relationships, Jay. I don't want to deal with another one." 

"I know, Dani. But, I think you should really give it a try. It's been how many years since you dated Adrian? Two. Whole. Years. Every man is not like that asshole. Every man is not going to hurt you like he did. Please don't let my best friend become an old and bitter woman with ten cats."

I laughed. "I already have a date with him tonight; we'll see how this goes before taking it any step further." 

While Jaycee and I were talking, Drake sent me a text message:

Come to the studio if you can at 6:30. We're going to watch the completed video and celebrate. 

I immediately texted Michael:

Are you coming to see the new video?

Yeah, 6:30 right?

Yeah, see you there.

I arrived at the studio around 6:15. As I walked into the lounge I was greeted by a smoke filled room. Inside sat Drake, Michael, Honey, and three others. They were all talking loudly and laughing. Drake stood up once he saw me enter the room.

"Y'all, listen up!" Drake yelled over everyone else.

Everyone looked at Drake then at me.

"This is Danielle. She's a really cool girl and was the main girl in the video. Danielle, this is Onika, Sean, and Michael." Drake said as he pointed to each person.

Everyone said hi and moved over so that I was forced to sit next to Drake.

"Dani Dan! I ain't tell y'all but Danielle and I been best friends for years," Michael said getting up to hug me.

Wayne's eyebrows rose. "Best friends? Why didn't y'all ain't say anything?"

Michael looked over at me. I spoke up. "I didn't want my friendship with Michael to be the reason I was famous."

Everyone nodded their heads, and we all sat back down.

"It was cool being able to choreograph the dance with her," Honey added. "I know Drake sure loved it," She continued with a wink at Drake.

"Ooooooh," Nicki said. Drake was blushing, and so was I. No matter how hard I tried to hide and deny it; I was developing a crush on Drake. 

"Look at them two," Sean awed.

Wayne laughed. "Let's go watch the video to see."

After watching the video, everyone clapped and gave good feedback. I had to admit it was pretty good. Drake and I actually looked like a couple too.
