It had been five weeks since Drake and I last talked. Since that Chris incident. I had to admit, life was pretty good for me. I had decided to take Drake's advice which was to find love. Well sort of. I had met someone new. Someone Jaycee set me up with, rather. He was cute, I had to admit. He knew about Tamara and my past. He was okay with it. He actually has a past of his own too. But I'll let him explain that to you:

Hey, um, my name is Jason.

I am a college graduate with my bachelor's degree in Engineering. Now I'm interning at various construction sites. I grew up with my mom who struggled to find love after my dad was killed when I was three. Almost all her boyfriends were abusive, and I vowed to myself to never put my mom through what those men put her through. I had to admit, I wasn't the perfect child growing up. I had anger problems and often got suspended for fighting. But, I grew up. I would say that the most recent mistake I've made was allowing my ex-fiancee to slip between my fingers so fast. We were the perfect match. Engaged. Just had a baby boy. One little mistake changed everything.

[Flashback]

I was at home with my son waiting for my fiancee to get home. She worked at a court house as the judge's secretary. My stomach growled, so I stood up from the couch and walked into the kitchen. So many choices. I have no clue what I want to cook.

I decided to text my fiancee.

Baby, are you on your way home?

After a couple minutes she replied back.

Yeah, I'm driving now.

I replied:

What do you want to eat for dinner?

I'm in the mood for some barbecue chicken.

Okay, see you when you get home.

Two hours had passed by and my fiancee still wasn't home. I called her, but I got no response. Dinner was finished, but I wanted to wait until she got home before starting to eat.

I called again and again, and eventually a man picked up the phone. "Hello, this is Officer Brown speaking."

"Officer?" I said, confused.

"Yes...sir, are you the spouse of Abigail Jenkins?"

"Yes, is something wrong?" I asked confused.

"Sir, Abigail got into an accident. We need you to come down to the station. We need you to identify the body."

"Body..." My voice cracked. I knew then that I had lost everything that meant something to me. "I'm on my way."

I made arrangements for my sister to take care of my son while I drove to the police station. Seeing my fiancee's lifeless body made me break down in tears. I never cried so hard in front of people in my entire life.

"How did this happen?" I asked once I had stopped crying.

"Witnesses say that she was reading a text message. When we unlocked her phone, this popped up." The officer showed me our conversation. She was reading my text message.

If only I had not replied to her text message. If only I wouldn't have texted her, knowing that she was driving on the road. That was three years ago. I still wasn't done hating myself for it. I never was able to get into a new relationship. Until Jaycee convinced me that I needed to move on with my life, I still don't think that I would've gave Danielle a chance. I know that there will never be another duplicate of my first love, but that didn't mean that I was supposed to give up on trying.
