Stardust's POV
He was hiding in the bushes, watching Nikki dreamily. She was just so pretty! He couldn't hear what Hailey and Deadlox were saying, they were too far away. But did he just see Nikki nuzzle him? And now they're laying down together?
How dare he! Stardust thought. Back off, that's my girl! He suppressed a growl. The only reason he had followed them was because he loved Nikki so much. But now he saw that Deadlox also loved her- and she loved him back!
A sudden image of him fighting Deadlox came into his head, and he smiled. If that happened, he would surely win. Deadlox may be faster than average, but speed is nothing compared to strength. If they did fight, he could strike down his opponent in a matter of seconds. Then Nikki would see who the better wolf was!
As he was thinking of this, another thought came into his mind. Why didn't they fight the two-leggeds (or the humans, as Nikki called them) with the rest of the pack? Of course, Deadlox's actions made sense. He was just the kind of wolf to sit back and let the others do the dirty work. But- surely not Nikki and Hailey? They were better than this.
But why did the two-legged creatures go after Deadlox? It's not like he would mind if he got killed, but he still was suspicious. The two-legs seemed to be after him. Is he the one who led them to the pack? Was it his fault that Kovu, Bella and Isa were dead?
If he told the rest of the pack, they would be after him in a matter of seconds. He finally had a way to get back at Deadlox.
