(One day later)
Jason's POV
Where were they going? Dawn was in front of him, walking along the edge of the forest. The rain had cleared up yesterday, and they could travel again. But wearing their armor while traveling at noon in the sweltering heat was not fun at all.
"Can't we rest for a bit?" Jason complained.
"In a minute. Let's just get to that pond over there, and we can have a drink and cool off under a tree," Dawn replied
They continued to walk in silence, because it was too hot to talk anyway. Jason just hoped that they would find Deadlox, and that they would find him fast. They finally reached the small pool of water, and they drank deeply. Dawn retreated to the shade of a huge oak tree, and leaned against the trunk. Jason joined her after a few seconds, exhausted. He was beginning to wonder if they would ever find thier friend.
Dawn pulled out two butter apples and handed one of them to Jason. They sat quietly eating them, until Jason just had to speak what was on his mind.
"Dawn- do you think we're ever going to find him? I mean, at the rate were traveling?"
"I don't know, but we have to keep trying."
"Do you think Sky is worried about us?"
"He probably just realized were gone, if he even stopped eating butter for a second."
Jason laughed a little. Dawn was always funny, even in a situation like this. They sat together for a bit, just taking in the sights, when he noticed the sun reflecting off of something about thirty feet away.
"Dawn, do you see that?" he said, pointing to the glare.
"Yeah, I do. What do you think it is?" she said.
"Well, there's only one way to find out."
They got up and began walking towards the object. It wasn't pleasent having to go back into the boiling sun, but they forgot about that as they got near enough to the object to see it.
"Jason? Do you see what that is?" Dawn said, her voice quavering.
"Dawn, that's- that's Deadlox's headset."
And so it was. It was laying in the grass at their feet, but it's owner was nowhere in sight.
