At the espanto's (Chapter 41)

Darren's POV

"Welcome to Canada!" I said to Anika... We just arrive and now were stepping on Calgary international airport. She smiled and slap my shoulder. "Hey!.." I said then some chuckled escaped. "Your over reacting." She said then Giggled. "Well it's pretty cold here."she said then tackle her jacket near her. "Here.. I still got another jacket at my bag." I said then took off my jacket to cover her. "No! It's fine." She said pushing the jacket away. "I insist." I protest. "Fine." She said then let me cover her. Her cheeks were pinkish because of the cold air. And everytime she talk a smoke burst out. I took my other jacket and wore them.

"Too bad honey's not with us anymore." Lynelle said. Pouting Anika bent down and pat lynelle's head. "Yeah.. She really likes snow. Too bad she needs to have a monthly check up." She said then half smiled. "But don't worry.. I'm here naman and ate's also here to play with you." I said then carry her. Gabby came rubbing his hands together.

"So the hotel is just 4 kilometers away from here." He said blowing his hands. "Who says Anika and I are going to take the hotel?" I said then look at Anika. She was smirking and look at gabby. "I'm going to stay at Darren's house. It may be a little far from the pictorial but I'm sure we'll arrive there on time." Anika said as she walk to be beside me. I smiled and kiss her forehead. "Okay,okay.. Jeez love birds. never loved them in the first place." Gabby said rolling his eyes. "Your just jealous cause you Still didn't find your Prince Charming.." Anika said. "Because my Prince Charming is not riding a white horse,he's riding a turtle so he's taking so long." He retorted. "Okay..that's enough.. We'll freeze to death here. Were going..." I said then Wave at gabby.

The others wave us goodbye as the driver took us to our house. Lynelle was giggling excited to see mommy and daddy again. Even though it's only been 2 months since they last seen each other. Anika on the other hand was kinda nervous thinking what would they react. I kept telling her to relax cause I'm sure everything will be okay.

While on the way, the trip was silent.I was looking at the window thinking how I miss this place.. Lynelle was playing on her iPad.. Anika was sleeping.. Leaning against the cold window. And the driver was focus on driving. It would take 45 mints to get to our house. And now it's been 20 mints. So it won't be long when we get there. Lynelle poke me and pointed at Anika. Anika was rocking back and forth.. I was giggling and told lynelle to exchange sit. She agree and we start exchanging sit. Fortunately we did it without waking Anika up. I smiled as I pull her near me and rested her head on my shoulder. She looked cute when her eyes were close as a strand of hair cover one of her eyes. I remove it slowly and tackle it behind her ear. Little did I know lynelle was taking pictures of us. I was smiling while Anika's deep sleep in my arms.

Lastly look at me. "Are we here?" She ask as she stretch her arms. "Yes,so c'mon pack your things.. And wear this." I said as I give her a mask. She look at it and said. "Is there a virus here or something?" Looking at me.. I chuckled and said. "No,I just want you to wear this cause I don't want mommy and daddy to find out yet. Not till were in the living room.. And oh don't speak." I said. She took it and wore them. "Why should I not speak?" She ask. "Because of your accent." I said then kiss her forehead. "Fine." She said rolling her eyes then pull the hood to cover her and zipped the zipper.

Lynelle knock as I do the door bell. Then someone shouted. "Coming.." After like 20 seconds mommy opened the door. She was surprise.. Lynelle hug her and of course she hugged back. And then her attention turn to Anika who was smiling behind the mask. "Come in! It's cold outside." Mommy said.. She help us carry our luggage and settle it in the living room.

"So kailan kayo uuwi?" Mommy ask. As we sat at the couch. "Ma,ka darating palang uwi na agad?" I said.. Then I notice she can't keep her eyes off of Anika. "Ma,did you made some hot cocoa? I kinda missed it."I said. "Oh,yes I did. Wait I'll go get it." She said as she walk to the kitchen. Lynelle was at her room. She ran there to see if her old stuff toys were still there. Anika stood up and look at the pictures at the table. She pick up one picture. It was my whole family. Then she spoke. "Chinese eyes really runs in your family huh?" She said softly. Then put it down. Then again she pick up another picture frame. "Your so cute!" She said then giggle. She showed it to me. It was me carrying lynelle. I smiled and just let her look at other pictures. Then mommy came carrying a tray with some cups on it. "Here have some." Mommy said as she give it to Anika. Anika bowed in a sign of saying thank you. "Anak. Koreana ba itong batang to? Nag Bo-bow eh. At bakit naka mask? May sakit ba Siya?"" Mommy said whispering to me. I smiled and said no.
