Chapter 15

My feet were killing me. We'd left Firgrove Village a little over three hours ago and had just reached Silverglade village. I hadn't wanted to ride Sunny at all since she's pregnant after all. We'd been silent the entire trip both to tired to speak. Sunny had wanted to leave while it was still dark to make sure we weren't followed. I had no idea where we were going, only that we had to go west to get home. Sunny wings weren't visable, I honestly have no idea how she makes them disappear but I knew I'd just sound stupid asking. As we approached Silverglade I asked Sunny "Do you want any lunch?" "Sure, an apple would be nice" she replied. I walked into the town and grabbed a sandwich for myself as well as an apple for Sunny. We decided to eat out on the nearby Everwind fields. I gave her the apple and sat down on a rock to eat my sandwich. "So I never got to ask you, why did they want you at that base?" I asked Sunny. She was silent for a moment for replying "I don't know, they kept acting like they wanted something from me but I don't know what" we were silent for another minute. "They were trying to get Sapphire too, do you think it's connected?" I asked "Definitely" she replied "I've known Sapphire for a long time, and they captured me while trying to capture Icegazer so there's something they want out of us all" "You never told me about Icegazer" I said. "Well your gonna need to know" she said with a sigh. She launched into the story of how'd she'd gotten captured. When she finished I asked "Does Jacky know all of this?" "Most likely, once you gain Silverblaze's trust he'll tell you everything" she replied. I thought of how distant Jacky had seemed the past few days, she really had only talked to me on our daily rides in the fields. Well now I know what was bothering her I thought to myself. I then remembered something else. "When we were at that base, why did that girl want to know if we could talk to each other?" I asked. "Because that would make you a Soul rider" Sunny said simply. I'd heard stories of them a few times. I'd always believed it was just a story. Clearly I was wrong. "What does that mean for us?" I asked her. "It means we are one of four pairs who must try and save Jorvik, I believe your friend Jacky would be the second one" she explained. I thought about how Jacky had used fire on the fields. "Wait so will I be able to use magic?" I asked Sunny. "Yes, those powers will develop with time and you will have mostly the same abilities as me" she replied. "Now if we want to, we can try and get to Silverglade Manor for the night, Steves farm is to crowded to be safe and even though it's early we can't keep walking all day we wouldn't have the energy" Sunny added after a moment. "Good idea" I replied getting up. And before I knew it we were walking once more.
