Chapter 22

   Luckily, nobody killed us while we slept or anything like that. Maybe I was paranoid but I'd rather be that then ignorant. I couldn't ignore what had happened yesterday after all. I sat up to find I'd fallen asleep leaning on Ice. I barely knew the silly little pony, but I already felt I could trust him with my life. I noticed he was already awake, but both My and Sapphire were sound asleep. "Morning Ice" I said quietly so I wouldn't wake the others. "Good morning" he replied. "So what are we gonna do today?" I asked figuring the pony would have some kind of idea. "Well we need to find the others, and the only way they could've gone is north. Knowing Silverblaze, he'd probably want to head to Valedale if they were up north" Ice explained. "So we go to Valedale then? Where's that?" I asked. Let's not forget I just moved here. I didn't know where anything was. "Valedale is a small town up north in the Hollow Woods" Ice told me. "And where are we now?" I asked. "Moorland. It's on the southern part of the island, the southern beach is filled with Dark Core workers so I want to be out of here quickly" he explained. "Well would it hurt to spy on them for a bit while My is asleep?" I asked. I wanted to know what they were up to. "I don't see why not, as long as we aren't caught" Ice said and I swear if a horse can grin he was doing it. We left a quick note for My in case she woke up and I got on Ice. We trotted out of the cave and down to the beach where we hid behind a boulder. We had perfect timing, the Dark Riders were talking to an old bald guy who appeared to be in charge. "No sir, we didn't get the mare back" Colette said her horse shifting a little as she spoke. "We don't have to kill her right" the friesian asked. "No, I need her alive, but stallion you can kill if you want, I don't care what happens to him" the man said. "Whose that man" I whispered to Ice. "Mr. Sands, the leader of Dark Core" Ice replied quietly. So he's in charge I thought quickly. "What about the others?" another girl, I think Jane, asked. "I don't care about the other riders, but the black horse seems interesting, keep him alive as well, and his rider since he'll probably do anything to protect her" Mr Sands told them. "Ok let's go!" Colette shouted, and she galloped off the other two close behind. After they were out of sight, Ice raced back to the cave. We arrived to find My and Sapphire awake. "So what did you see? Anything good?" My asked. She'd clearly read our note. "Yeah, we heard the guy in charge telling the riders what he wanted with each of us" I said. "Really? What did they say?" My asked. "They said basically they didn't care what happened to me or Silverblaze, but they want you, Sapphire and Sunny alive. They didn't mention Nina at all" Ice replied to her. "What the heck could they want with me?" Sapphire asked sounding a little scared. "Well we'll never find out cause they won't catch us" My reassured her horse. "I like that idea" Sapphire said nodding his head, which was kinda funny to watch. "Well if they're after us we'd better get out of here" Sapphire then added. "Exactly what I was thinking, we need to go north and find our friends, plus maybe they have carrots!" Ice agreed. I laughed at how he still managed to think of carrots. He could be serious in important moments, like when he rescued us, or when we were spying on Dark Core, but when we were just planning he seemed to bring up carrots for everything. We soon left the cave and started galloping towards Valedale, with no idea of what we would find there.
