Silver Flames

Chapter 17

   I was so glad to hear Nina was alright, and it sounded like Sunny was too. Silverblaze even seemed happier after I told him what she'd said on the phone. We arrived at the stables pretty quickly after I hung up the phone. I expected Nina to happily be waiting for me but of course I couldn't be that lucky. I arrived to find something crazy happening. Everyone around the stable, both horses and people, was unconscious except for Nina and she was fighting for her life. A dark haired girl on a chocolate palomino horse was attacking with a dark energy similar to the one the first girl had. "Jane" Silverblaze mumbled. "It was a different girl last time" I told him. "We can talk about it later, now let's do something!" Silverblaze said. We galloped over and immediately Silverblaze blasted silver fire and reared trying to kick the girl off her horse. Nina was standing in front of Sunny and had a pitch fork from the stables she was defending herself with. Suddenly out of nowhere another girl also on a chocolate palomino, joined the battle, and tried to knock me off my horse. I blasted fire forcing her to move away unless she wanted a nasty burn. While both Nina and My had magic horses with them, neither of them could use magic yet and because of that, I yelled at My and Sapphire to stay back and tried to defend Nina as well as I could. Just as it seemed like we were going to be overwhelmed suddenly, the horses our enemies were riding had their hooves frozen to the ground. "This way!" A voice said. I turned to see a brown and white pony standing nearby. Without a second though we all followed the pony just glad to be away from there. He guided us out to the forgotten fields and up north. Soon we were in trees near the hollow woods in her far north of the fields. The pony led us to a cave that was pretty well hidden, I wouldn't have found it if somebody hadn't shown me. When we got inside the pony said "Glad to see you guys are alright, haven't seen you two Silverblaze and Sunny since you rescued me that one day, and I haven't seen you Sapphire since we ran off in opposite directions a while ago. He looked My "Thanks for your help by the way, never would've gotten away without it, my name is Icegazer but just call me Ice" "Your welcome, I'm My" My replied. We all introduced ourselves to Ice quickly. Kate didn't understand what he was saying, but caught on quickly when we introduced ourselves. I felt sort of bad for her since she was the only one who couldn't figure out what we were talking about. Suddenly we heard a branch break. We all froze and I felt Silverblaze tense underneath me. Then suddenly the girl on the friesian leapt into the cave, the same one that has kidnapped Nina. "Come on, this was my best hiding place!" Ice complained as he moved to make an escape. We all galloped towards the exit at once hoping to overwhelm the girl with mumbers. That, and some magic from three of us got us past the girl and we shot out onto the fields. The other two from the manor were outside and noticed us instantly. "Oreo, go home!" I shouted. I'd taught him that command last year that way if I fell and injured myself badly he'd run back to the stable and someone would notice. After doing it as a practice for a while, he could do it from anywhere. "Chip, follow Oreo!" Nina yelled clearly having the same idea I did. We didn't want them to get hurt when they didn't have to, they weren't the targets. The two horses bolted west and soon were out of sight. Now that I knew Oreo was safe, I focused on our situation more. We'd all been spread out avoiding attacks and I had the feeling we'd end up separated if we didn't try and move back together quickly. Poor Fox looked panicked and Kate seemed to lose control of him. I didn't blame Fox at all, he had never been in this much danger before. He took off the way Oreo and Chip had gone and ended up skidding to a halt to avoid a tree sending Kate flying over his head. He bolted again still spooked and seemed to be trying to follow Oreo and Chip. Before I could ride over to help Kate, the girl with the friesian attacked me and I barely ducked on time to avoid it. Knowing I wasn't strong enough to defeat her, I turned Silverblaze and raced away from the battle. Lucky for me, Silverblaze could run faster then a friesian could and soon we were alone. When we'd run off, we had bolted into some woods and we now walked through them hopelessly lost. Suddenly Silverblaze literally almost slammed into Nina. "Nina!" I said relief flooding through me. That meant at least one of my friends was alright. I was really worried about Kate though, she'd fallen off of her horse after all. "Jacky!" she said sounding equally relieved. I jumped off my horse and hugged her just so happy to see my friend. I then turned to see Silverblaze nuzzling Sunny. Those two were definitely more then friends. "Sunny are you alright?" Silverblaze asked. "Yeah, I'm fine" Sunny replied. Sunny laid down in the grass to rest and Silverblaze laid next to her. "Silverblaze I have something important to tell you" Sunny said softly. "What is it?" he asked her. "I'm pregnant" she told him. "What!? How long?" Silverblaze asked. "About 6 months, I wanted to be sure first" Sunny said. "Did she tell you this?" I whispered to Nina. "Yeah" she replied. I was pretty amazed with this news. At the same time, it stunk because it would not be good for Sunny to run, or be ridden for long periods of time at all. We stood in silence for a minute before Silverblaze said "Well, we might as well rest here for now I'll stay awake to watch for trouble if you guys want to nap" the sun didn't set for at least another hour, but at the same time sleep didn't sound like a bad idea and Nina looked tired as well. I knew it was to risky to start looking for the others now, the dark riders were still looking for us. So I sat down leaning against Silverblaze and drifted off into a restless sleep.
