October 20                                                                                         Rosalie POV

The drive to Chick-Fil-A was silent, but once we were seated and eating, Mr. and Mrs. Walters began to talk.

“So who is the boy Emma loves?” Mrs. Walters asked. Ichocked on a French fry. How the hell did she know Emma was in love?! “A mother knows.” Mrs. Walters said, waving a chicken nugget at me.

“I-I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Oh come on. Who’s the guy?”

I didn’t say a thing.

“It’s not that Lawrence boy is it?” I tried my best to keep a poker face, but it must’ve faltered cause Mrs. Walters face lit up. “I knew it!!!”

“I never told you!”

Mrs. Walters smiled and pretended to zip her mouth shut. Her phone buzzed and she looked at the screen.

“text from Dr. Cosat. He says the results are in. and they’re not good.” We all piled into my car and sped away.

The ride was spent in silence. The bad silence. Silence that gave a feeling of uneasiness.
