Walking through the woods in the middle of the night with no flashlight is probably not my best idea, but here I am.
The moon is full, and gleaming a milky white. I left my flashlight back in my room - and going back wouldn't be worth it.
The night is eerily silent, no crickets singing or owls hooting. All I hear is my own faint breathing.
Crack.
I stop in my tracks. I look down at my black converse. There are no twigs or sticks beneath my feet.
I turn around cautiously. Don't make any sudden movements, Pacifica. Don't make any sounds.
Yet there's nothing behind me. But I feel a presence - something's following me. Watching me.
I keep walking. The sooner I get outta here, the less I'll have to worry about it.
Now I hear footsteps that are not my own.
"Who's there?" I call out as if I can fight whatever's out there. But I know I can't - I'm way too weak. I can't even stand up to my parents.
It's probably one of the various creatures in Gravity Falls that the Pines twins told me about. I've always noticed weird things about my home town, I've just never been able to explore them. They've been here for a month and have done more than me. And I've been here for my whole life.
There's more movement. Then quiet. Something's going to jump out at me any second now... any second...
But nothing does. Is it just my imagination? I turn around and take one step and that's when something hops out of the bushes and lunges at me viciously.
My first instinct is to scream like the dumb blonde girls in horror movies. Sure, I feel stereotypical to myself, but honestly, who wouldn't scream?
I should've jumped away, but I didn't, so here I am wrapped in the tight squeeze of a monster's claw.
"Hey! Let me go!" I yell as if that will totally fix everything.
I struggle to get out, but he just holds tighter. I'm beginning to lose breath. Well, crap.
I hear more footsteps. Are there more monsters coming? What kind of shit did I get myself into?
"Hey monster!" A familiar voice shouts.
I manage to turn my head."Mabel!" I choke on my own words.
Dipper runs towards the monster and I with an axe. He swings it to the creature's toe. The monster screeches in pain and drops me. Unfortunately, he had brought be up higher, so my fall is about ten feet down. Will I be going back to my house with broken bones? I can only imagine how punished I'll be. Well, time to start digging my grave.
I slip out of the monster's grasp. I let out a small yelp as gravity pulls me down to the forest floor.
"Pacifica!" Mabel cries.
I brace myself for a bad impact.
Instead, I land straight into Mabel's arms, almost sending us both down.
I'm speechless. We kind of just look at each other in that awkward and amazed way.
"Mabel... y-you saved me," I say.
"Well, I just didn't want you getting hurt..."
"Thank you."
