I sighed softly, throwing my phone on the bed. I than sat down on it, running my hands through my hair.
"What's up, babe?" Aleks, my boyfriend, asked as he walked into the room. He had only a towel wrapped around his waist.
"Our flight to Massachusetts has been cancelled." I groaned. I fell back on the bed in frustration. I was so looking forward to going home for the holidays.
Aleks sighed and silently got dressed. When he was finished, he plopped down next to me.
"It'll be okay." Aleks sighed. "I'll call my parents and tell them about it... They'll understand."
"Mine, too, probably, but that's not the point..." I sighed, feeling tears well up in my eyes. "I wanted to go home for Christmas."
"Home is wherever as long as I'm with you." Aleks said, kissing my forehead. A small smile formed on his lips. "We can make the best of it."
I nodded my head, smiling slightly. "Yeah, that's true. We can make the best of this."
"We can." Aleks nodded. "I'll call my parents, and yours, if you want."
"Okay," I nodded. "I'll go start on dinner."
I left to the kitchen, working on making dinner for Aleks and I. I decided on making chicken and mashed potatoes.
I could hear Aleks softly talking on the phone. I was hoping it was all going well and that our parents would understand. It's not like we could control the weather.
When Aleks got done talking to our families, he came down to the kitchen. He fed Mishka while I finished dinner and put it all on the table.
Aleks and I ate, making small talk about our days. Aleks told me a funny story about something that had happened at the office today.
"Hey, Aleks?" I asked, finishing my dinner.
"Yes, babe?" He replied. He took a sip of his drink and put it back down. He was already finished with dinner.
I gathered up our dishes and put them in the sink. "I'm glad I'm spending the holidays with you."
Aleks chuckled softly. "Me, too, (Y/N)."
