I sighed in complete and utter frustration. Christmas was a fucking disaster this year. It was always was.
The tree at the office caught on fire. Mr. Meowgi knocked down mine and Seamus’s tree and tore up the wrapping paper on the presents. To top it all off, Seamus hadn’t gotten me a present.
I sat up in my room, trying hard not to cry. Today was ruined for me.
"Caitlin?" Seamus’s voice called from downstairs. I ignored it, not wanting him to know that I was here. I didn’t want him to see me cry.
I heard his footsteps coming up the stairs to our bedroom. He knocked on the door, then slowly opened it. He walked in and sighed, seeing me in my crying state.
Seamus wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him. I didn’t have the strength to push him away. Honestly, I didn’t want to.
After a while, I had calmed down a bit. Seamus kissed the top of my head before getting up. I watched him with careful eyes, watching as he got down on one knee in front of me.
"Caitlin, will you marry me?" He asked, pulling out a box. He popped the top of the box to reveal a gorgeous diamond ring. "I want to be with you for the rest of your life, through our good days and bad. I love you so much."
"I love you, too, Seamus O’Doherty. Of course I’ll marry you!" I said, throwing my arms around him. I kissed him passionately as he slipped the ring onto my finger.
Christmas wasn’t so bad after all.
