Viv's POV

I rushed inside following Lauren. I burst into Maisy's room. Her room was small, with floral furniture and white thin curtains, perfect for light to stream in. For some reason Maisy had loved it and wanted it for herself although it was smaller than most of the rooms here. She claimed that if she woke up here in the morning, with the sun coming through the windows she could forget what had happened to the world.

I guess I could understand that.

Now Maisy laid in her queen sized bed, her ridiculously poofy comforter surrounding her.

The rest of the group had followed, standing in the doorway.

"Lauren and Annabeth, take the twins out of here. Scarlett get hot water and towels. Winnie, go get Jack, quickly!" I ordered while I rushed to Maisy's side, who was sweating and passed out, her face twisted in pain.

I placed a hand on her forehead and jumped back at the temperature. She was burning up alright.

I looked up and noticed the boys still here.

Shit, I forgot about them.

"You guys should probably leave." I muttered turning back to Maisy. Carrie stood on the other side of the bed, her bottom lip quivering and looking like she was about to cry.

"One of you take Carrie outside, she shouldn't really see this." I say reaching over to Carrie and squeezing her hand reassuringly.

"Carrie can you step out for a moment? Maybe patrol the border?" I ask gently. She shot me a small smile and nodded.

"I'll walk out with her." Zayn said hesitantly. I shot him a weird look, but they had already left.

The other lads gave each other weird looks but shrugged.

"Seriously, you guys should leave."

"Wait, I think I know what this is." Liam said slowly, not looking away from Maisy.

"Um, look I don't have time for you to play doctor so can-"

"I'm not playing doctor! I used to get sick a lot when I was younger, so when I moved out, I studied medical journals and took some small courses just in case I might get sick again." He said sheepishly.

Winnie raced back in with Jack and Scarlett was behind them with hot water and towels.

"Oh Maisy." Jack said sadly, coming up on the other side of the bed.

"What are her symptoms?" He asked me.

"Uh, what I can tell, fatigue, fever, and um..?" I trailed, not really sure.

"Chills, abdominal pain." A pained voice wheezed. I looked back at Maisy, who was now awake and in pain.

"Check her pulse, tell me if its fast." Liam ordered as he took the water and towels from Sacrlett.

"Wait, since when are you a doctor?" Winnie snapped.

Liam shot her a look and started to put hot towels on Maisy's forehead.

"Just trust me."

While Winnie and Liam bickered, Jack had taken Maisy's pulse.

"Her heart rate is high, you were right." Jack said in confusion.

"Check for rashes." Liam barked.

Winnie and I exchanged a look, then shrugged, ripping the comforter from Maisy's shivering body.

We lifted up her shirt and skirt looking for any sign of a rash.

"Uh...found it." Winnie said uneasily. Sure enough there was a red spotty rash on inside of Maisy's thigh.

"Maisy, tell me, have you been vomiting?" Liam asked gently.

Maisy nodded weakly.

"Do your joints hurt?"

Again a nod.

Liam sighed, giving us a sad look.

"Lastly, what are you craving if you're craving anything?"

"Um..I don't really have an appetite, but I really really want potato chips and pretzels." She said weakly, looking confused at the weird question.

"So, pretty much salt?"

"Uh, I guess."

Liam nodded and turned back to us.

He waved the other lads to leave as well as Scarlett, while he brought Winnie, Jack and I in a huddle.

"She has Addisonian Disease." Liam winced.

"In English?"

"When we stress, our adrenal glands produce cortisol to help respond to the stress. Addisonian is when you don't produce enough cortisol, weakening the immune system and can be fatal."

Winnie stepped out of the ring, looking up at the ceiling to prevent crying.

"Is-is it treatable?" She strained, wrapping her arms around herself.

"Uh..yeah." Liam trailed.

"Great! What do we do?" I say excitedly.

"No, if cortisol is the problem, then Maisy needs a hydrocortisone injection, and soon." Jack spoke softly, understanding what Liam was saying.

Liam nodded sadly and looked back at Maisy, who had fell back to unconsciousness.

"Where do we find it?" Winnie demanded, furiously wiping the tears that were already falling.

"Hospitals, doctor offices, those kind of places."

"Then we'll go." I say determined.

"But the hospital..." Jack trailed.

"Is full of Grayies, I get that. But we got out once we can do it again." I say, pushing down my fear and looking back at poor Maisy.

If she needs this shot, then she'll fucking get it.

"Round up Carrie, Scarlett, Declan and Josh." I told Winnie. She wrinkled her nose at Declan's name but didn't argue, we need as many able people as possible and Declan was handy with a gun.

"This is going to be dangerous." Liam said lowly, locking eyes with me. I saw concern and care in those eyes, and I knew he was scared.

"What isn't these days?"
