She sobbed in my arms. I felt mixed feelings, the panic and down right terror of everything going on and the relief of her small frame in my arms made my head cloudy.

"Viv..." My voice was low and I slowly- unwillingly- pried her away from me. We had bigger issues to deal with.

"Love, we need to get out of this hole." I said gently. I sounded so much more calm than I was, could she hear the rapid pound of my heart? Her face looked pained, angry and worried and terrified all at the same time. I can relate.

"Right." It was forced, I knew Viv was talking over the probable lump in her throat, and her voice cracked as she furiously wiped her eyes.

The hole was deep, at least six feet, but should be easy enough to climb out of. Viv's face changed abruptly, turning to stone as she stared at me with dead bloodshot eyes.

"Give me a boost."

Without speaking, I laced my fingers together so she could step up. Resting my hands on one bent knee, I lifted her up while she steadied herself on my shoulders.

I shivered at the slight scratch of her nails, but remained silent as I picked her up effortlessly. She seemed to weigh nothing and I frowned at the hipbones as her shirt rode up. Food was getting scarce.

But I couldn't worry about that now.

"Here." She deadpanned, lending her hand once she was out of the hole.

For someone who weighed so little she certainly had strength to lift me from the pit. While I brushed myself off Viv stared at the duffel bag left behind, not making a sound as her eyes started to water.

I tried not to feel a twist of betrayl. Although this monster doing this may be her father, it does not mean that she had anything to do with it.

Right?

"Lets go." She said harshly, already stomping away in her black converse. She'd probably look more determined in a pair of combat boots like Winnie, but I have never seen someone so angry.

I couldn't imagine what she felt as she led me back towards the house, but I knew I felt the gut wrenching fear of what was ahead.

Whatever it was, I knew that it wouldn't leave willingly.

Winnie

"Safety off, aim and fire. Got it?" I passed out the various handguns to the boys, Harry slightly shaking as he took his weapon.

"I've never shot someone before." He said softly.

"You do now."

I went around with Carrie and Scarlet both by my side. Without Viv here, I had to take over as leader.

Although you'd think Robin or Annabeth would take charge, they respected my judgment. Robin had seen enough fighting in Vietnam, and he said that he would never participate in something so inhuman again. While Annabeth was retired, she was still one hell of a shot, but slow on the joints. She couldn't physically lead the group, being too old to actually go on missions, but she is willing to train and guide us through this horrific situation.

"This man, are you sure he was alone?" Scarlet asked, giving Annabeth a hard stare. She was the loner, willing to participate but not the leading type. She did however, have an extraordinary set of skills and didn't take shit from anybody. I would trust her with my life.
