Chapter 18
-Fast Forward-
"Calm down Sofia!" Brad begged with both of his hands on my knees as I helplessly sobbed into my hands.
"Calm down?! Calm down?! Brad, how can you say that? It's the twenty seventh of September, do you know what that means?!"
"It means-"
"It means that a week today my baby is due!" I cut him off. "I haven't heard a thing from the rehab for months! A week and Ryan isn't out yet!"
"Calm down Sofia, everything will be ok! He isn't going to miss the birth of his daughter! The fact that you haven't heard anything is good! It means his treatment is going well."
"How can you say everything will be ok?" I sighed and removed my eyes from my hands. I looked at my best friend through my blury vision as I took deep breaths to stop my sobs. A minute ago we were laughing at how Bulgaria pronounce Sofia the way you'd pronounce Sophia and my name is pronounced So-fire despite being named after the capital. Then I just broke down. My hormones really are all over the place.
"Because it will..." He gave me a small smile as he wiped my wet cheeks with a tissue and caught the remaining tears. "The rehab said they'd call you today so why are you panicing?"
"Because what if it's bad news?" I pouted.
"It's not going to be! I bet it will be that you can get him today! And I can finally go home to my parents who have been nagging me about never being there and my lack of preperation for my new job I start on Monday!"
"My best friend moving to London, two whole hours away." A proud smile found its way onto my face.
"I did it Sofia." He grinned an extremely toothy grin showing off his pearly whites. I pulled him into an embrace and burried my face into his neck.
"Personal trainer, just as you always wanted." I began crying again.
"Hey, it's ok! You will become that amazing journalist next year! I mean lets be serious, you're top of the class, can you see any of the others in the room making it out before you?" He laughed lightly causing me to giggle. "And you've been going to school up until this Monday, you only started on the second and you're already a good month ahead of everyone!"
"I have to be Brad I'm having a baby." I laughed as I pulled away from his neck.
"This time next year you will already be in a job and waiting for this little ones first birthday with a healthy Ryan by your side."
"What if I have to stay back another year because of this little one?"
"Not gonna happen. You have always been an over achiever on this course and will continue to be so! Ryan will look after the baby whilst you do school work. Also his best friend happens to be your teacher who can give you all the work!"
"So, everything is gonna be ok?"
"Everything is gonna be ok!" He gently kissed my forehead. The shrill ring of my house phone echoed around my front room. My stomach dropped as the feeling of needing to sob returned. "You do know you have to answer that right... Sofia... SOFIA!" I jumped. "Answer it..." He pulled up from the sofa and pushed my over to the phone. With shaking hands I pulled the phone away from the wall.
"H-hello?" I stuttered.
"Hiya beautiful!" His deep voice sent chills down my spine.
"RYAN!" I screamed in happiness.
"Look out of your window..." He instructed.
"What?" I let the phone drop and walked over to the window wall where Brad was already stood grinning. I looked down and on the road and what I saw sent my heart into over drive. Stood there was Ryan grinning up at me looking so tiny, he was stood beside some white writing, in chalk I assume, 'I love you!' with a heart beside it.
