Chapter 22
The rest of the week went smoothly but true to his word Mr Knox kept a close eye on Justin and I but I think he was no realising how stupid his accusation was. Now however I have to make a three hour drive down to Ryan's parents so they can see their granddaughter as Ryan hadn't gotten back to me about going down. I buckled Evelyn in the back seat and began my drive down to Ryan's parents' house.
"I'm so glad you came Sofia!" Etta pulled me into a hug before I could even step into the house. "I don't know how much time I have to spend with my great-grandchildren! I appreciate this!"
"It's ok!" I put on a fake smile. I pulled Evelyn out of her car seat and handed her over to Etta who then tottered off into the living room looking down with pride at her great granddaughter. I placed the chair beside the door.
"The hospital phoned today." Jenna informed me as she looked sadly after her mother. "They said there's only a slim chance she'll make it to next year."
"I'm sorry to hear that." I put a comforting hand on Jenna's arm. Etta had been suffering with many different illnesses for a while, the family were shocked she'd made it this far.
"'FIRE!" Tyson wobbled into the hallway.
"Hello!" I grinned at him as I picked him up.
"He has something he wants to show you don't you Ty!" Jenna has her perfectly happy act back on for Tyson who was now nodding furiously in my arms.
"Come on then!" I laughed putting him down and taking his hand, he quickly dragged me into the living room.
"Ev'lyn!" He pointed to a big piece of glittered up card on the floor, I smiled at his pronounciation of his half-sister's name.
"It's for your sister isn't it Ty!" Jenna took a seat beside Etta and began fussing over the little girl in question.
"Yeah!" He grinned.
"It's lovely!" I smiled.
"A-a-a 'Fire!" He pointed to a similar looking picture.
"Is that for me?" I gasped acting surprised.
"Yeah!" He giggled. "Dadda!" Then he pointed to another similar piece of card.
"And that ones for your daddy?"
"Yep." He moved his finger to point at the last similar piece of card. "Me."
"They're very good!"
"Famwy."
"Family?" I almost choked on the word as this little boy had made a 'picture' for the four of us... a family.
"YUSH!" He threw himself at me. "Famwy." He repeated as he held me close to him.
A couple hours later my phone began buzzing so I quickly pulled it out of my pocket, we'd eaten and we were now just sat in the living room talking whilst the babies slept. Tyson in his bed and Evelyn in Ryan's old bed.
"Be right back!" I quickly got up and left the room before answering the phone. "Hello?"
"Sofia?" A familiar male voice spoke up.
"Dylan?"
"Yeah it's me! Hey!"
"Hi?"
"You're probably wondering why I'm calling."
"Urm... yeah, I can't assume it's just for a catch-up can I?"
"No, unfortunately not. Ryan's here..."
