"So you must be y/n," the king looked down at you. Never had you felt so frail colored to anything in your life! He was a spitting image of Legolas, but he looked more hardened on the outside. Maybe it was from ruling a kingdom for so many years? You did not know, but nevertheless you have the king a curt nod.

"Legolas tells me he had proposed to you, did you accept?" He asked.

"I did my lord, very happily at that," you said with a half smile. King Thranduil's scrutinizing gaze was overwhelming. The king thought for a moment.

"I still do not see my son's actions as the proper way to do this. I will need to see that you truly do not get in the way of his duties," the Kingston up straight.

"Father-" Legolas was cut off.

" I will hear no more, go now– show y/n to the gardens. I want you back in time to be a prince Legolas," and the king sat upon his throne once more.

***
"What are we going to do?!" You whispered to Legolas who had walked you down w hall and tossed you into a room. Here, prying ears wouldn't find them.
"I do not know! There needs to be a way you are able to warm up to him," Legolas took you by the shoulders. What was there that you could do?

"What if I took a walk with him? I do not know if it will work, but what if it was just him and I that talked?" You brought up the idea.

"That could work, try it and if you need anything, don't hesitate to call for me, I will not be far," Legolas kissed the top of your head before you went your separate ways.

"So Legolas tells me you are a mermaid," the king said as he walked beside you. You found privacy in the gardens as you walked beside a strong running creek. As if on que, you tripped and Thranduil caught you.

"Uhh, yeah and I'm still getting my land legs," you gave a sheepish smile. He helped you on your feet.

"I mean no offense my lady, but what is the reason you left the water for?" He asked.

"I didn't do it be cause Legolas forced me to if that's what you're asking. He didn't force me at all for that matter, he left it entirely up to me and understood if I didn't want leave. I left because he gave me the choice and I love him," you answered the King stayed silent as he gazed into the rushing of the water.
"In that case, I must say I-," he was cut off when the ground beneath his foot gave way and the king went tumbling into the water. Your efforts in trying to grab him failed miserably. You watched with frighten eyes as the King thrashed in the fierce water.

"What do I do?!" You jumped where you stood. 'Wait- weren't you an expert swimmer?' And it was that thought that caused you to rip the hem of your dress off and Jump into the liquid.

Instantly you felt a change occur within you as you struggled to see where the king was in the depths of the water. You legs merged as one and your tail was there once more. Why was it doing this?! Then the blurry vision you possessed suddenly became clear and you found the king at the bottom of the creek. You decided not to question why you now had a mermaid tail all of the sudden, so you saved the King. You wrapped your arms around him and brought his heavy body to the surface. No wonder he weighed so much! His thick robes cussed him to sink.

Once on the surface you did your best to pull him ashore. Once there you rested beside his limo body. The king lie still and silent for a moment before he coughed up a gallon of water. Thranduil saw you looking down at him and he saw that half of your body now had a fish's tail. He looked shocked," I thought you could not have your tail back– at least as the tales say,"
"As did I, but as I think about it, the sea gets to decide what rules get bent," you answered.

Every day after the incident Thranduil grew more and more used to you. He saw you as a equal from then on and thought no less of you.
