Trey
I jump awake around late evening in confusion. It takes me a minute to realize where I am. I sit up to find Liberty sitting with her knees to her chin looking out towards the sunset over the ocean. I scooch over to her and kiss her exposed shoulder.

"Whatchu thinkin' about?" I ask.

"Pharmacy school, my family, and you. It's crazy how my life is so affected by those three."

I stare at the side of her beautiful face. Black, beautiful, and intelligent af.

"Don't worry about pharmacy school right now. You know you'll do great with your nerdy self." I say encouragingly.

She lets her legs go and lays them straight. I take her hand and leave soft kisses on it. How much more beautiful her hand would be with a ring?

"I love you so much, Liberty, that it hurts. I love you beyond my soul and I find myself praying for you more than I pray for myself." I say.

Tears brim her eyes and she wipes them away. I smile.

"I love you with all of my being, Trey. To be honest, I never thought I would find a love like this."

We lean in for a soft kiss. This girl has knocked me off of my feet. After the kiss, we both stand up to take a walk along the beach. Yeah, we're stupid in love and we're gonna have our bad days, but let us enjoy the good ones, so when the bad days come, we can reflect on these good ones.

Hand in hand, we walk across the sand. Warm breeze coming through and the sound of seagulls through the air. I turn and smile at my baby as she speaks. Like dang, this is all mine? Maybe in another three years, she'll be more than just my girlfriend.
