DIY Flower Crown
MATERiALS;;
Once again I wouldn’t pay more than a dollar for each of these things because you can find them at a dollar store!
▷Floral Wire
▷Floral Tape
▷Fake flowers (whatever kind you want, but I recommend 2 or 3 bunches of different ones. Make sure they look good together though. Also try to get ones with cool leaves or accents on them because you’ll need those too).
▷Hot glue gun + hot glue sticks
▷Pliers/wire cutters (This is optional, but they definitely help. My dad had some pliers that had a wire cutter on them and they worked perfectly.)
HOW TO MAKE iT;;
▷ Step 1: Use the florist wire to make a circle that will fit your head. Wrap it all the way around your head then add an inch or two and cut the wire there.
▷ Step 2: Take both of the ends of the wire you cut and using the pliers (or your hands) wrap them together. It doesn’t need to look pretty it just needs to old the ends together.
This is why you needed an extra inch or wire so it will still fit once you wrap them together.
▷ Step 3: This is probably the most boring part. Starting at the place where you wrapped the wires together start wrapping the entire headband in florist tape.
Do this by first tying a small knot around the headband with the tape at one end, wrap it ALL the way around the headband and back to the knot you first tied, and then tie yet another knot around the headband with the tape to hold it in place.
I would say to glue the tape in place, but hot glue doesn’t stick to the wire very well.
▷ Step 4: Next you need to cut all of the flowers, leaves, etc. that you want to use off of their stems.
I suggest separating them into piles based off of what they are. Like put all leaves in one pile, all pink flowers in one, and white flowers in another, etc. It just makes it easier in the end.
▷ Step 5: Here’s the fun part! Put the flowers on your headband in any way you want. I suggest just covering it all the way around adding both leaves and flowers, but it’s up to you! Make sure you’re using really strong glue (I used hot glue) so they won’t wall off.
You can just do it halfway around the crown.
Or you can spread out the flowers.
Or you can only use flowers and no leaves.
This part is entirely up to you! There’s no right or wrong way of placing the flowers on the headband.
Google will bring up some really good ones you can get inspiration from.
▷ Step 6: WEAR IT! You’re done and now it’s time to style it!
HOW TO WEAR iT;;
Flower headbands tend to be a ‘statement piece’ so they can be hard to wear sometimes, but here’s a few hair and outfit ideas that should help!
▷ For your outfit:
-Go simple. A plain tank top and high waisted shorts won’t take away from how beautiful your flower crown is.
-Lace. If you’re looking for a girly look lace always goes well with the crowns!
-Go dark. If you’re trying to get more of a pastel grunge look with this, wear darker tones in your clothing then style it with a pink or white very light colored flower crown. The contrast makes for an adorable outfit.
-T-shirts. You wouldn’t think a flower crown and a t-shirt would look good together, but they really do! Since a t-shirt is SO casual it totally dresses down the crown. Try to go for a faded or vintage print on your shirt.
▷For your hair;;
-Romantic. For a girly or romantic look curl your hair very loosely and either leave it down or just pull back the sides of it.
-Casual. When going casual just style the flower crown over a simple side braid. Cute and easy.
-Natural. Because of how earthy a flower crown can look, sometimes your natural hair will look the best. It gives you more of a laidback look.
