Trigger warning: Mentions of suicide.

♡ ; Even though it's not about synesthesia, there is a song called 'Smell the colour 9' by Chris Rice.

♡ ; To people with number-colour synesthesia, Roman Numerals have no colour.

♡ ; There was once a colourblind synesthete who only saw colours when he looked at numbers.

♡ ; Synesthesia has been proven to be more common in female and left-handed individuals
(A/N: I'm a female but I'm right handed.)
♡ ; .5% to 1% of people have synesthesia.

♡ ; Synesthesia is most commonly viewed as an ability than a disability...just because it's a 'condition' doesn't mean it's a disability. (A/N: I personally view me having Synesthesia as a gift.)

♡ ; People that started experiencing synesthesia as a result of a head trauma or incident have "acquired synesthesia", and those that have always had synesthesia have "developmental synesthesia".

♡ ; Synesthesia can also be spelled: synaesthesia

♡ ; Because synesthesia is not a medical condition, it cannot be officially diagnosed.

♡ ; There are proof that even blind humans can have synesthesia in sound.

♡ ; Most blind people who have synesthesia is known to use mostly left hand and a hobby for painting. They seem to express their feelings about the music in the canvas although they cannot see.

♡ ; There are incidents where a colour-blind man had synesthesia, which is much rarer than having just synesthesia.

♡ ; There was an experiment in “youtube”, where a colour-letter synesthete were listed with 15 words. They were simple words like coffee, house, school, window, and etc. At first, the synesthete were able to list only 10 words, which is slightly above average human’s memorizations. Then the experimenter tried to distract her with a small game of sound. He then again asked for the 15 words, and this time, she was able to reply back 14 words of the 15. After this, they were able to prove that a synesthete is able to remember words more by colours.

♡ ; There is also another experiment explained in a book called, “A Mango Shaped Space”, which tells a story about a girl with synesthesia. The girl tires to experiment some experiments she found from the internet. The experiment was to have electric acupuncture to increase the synesthesia she has. They had explained that when the electric needles go in, she can see a burst of colours before her eyes. The synesthesia was being connected to the “chi” and the electricity had increased her synesthesia.

♡ ; Many synesthetes are known to commit suicide because they see too much colours and stress out. (A/N: So many people try to glamorize and romanticize this and it's disgusting, so please don't do it. There's nothing "beautiful/beautifully tragic" about suicide.)

♡ ; Synesthesia can be very weird too. You can taste something weird when the spelling is different. (A/N: As a personal example, the word 'Hanger' and 'Hangar' taste differently to me. I like saying them over and over because it's funny and odd how this works for me.)
