#9 Inspiration story

I grew up in a family and with a community that was strong on religion.

I was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan so "say wallah bro" was something I heard at least 20 times a day. It's nice growing up in a community that has Arab/Muslims. We constantly reminded each other to turn to Allah for good and bad.

There is a Ayah in the Quran:

‎ "وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ"

"Call to Me that I may answer your call. Surely those who disdain worshipping Me will enter Hell, disgraced."

I went through a tough time a few years ago. I didn't want to lose something I had. Even though in the back of my mind and in reality its wasn't good.

My family and friends started saying to turn to Allah swt. He will answer your du'aa.I had this impression that all I had to do was pray and beg and I'll get it.
So I prayed day and night.

Made tons of du'aa. But it seemed the more du'aa I made, the worse things became. Everything I was praying for, the opposite was happening.

I started crying in my salah saying why would all this happen to me? Why arnt you answering my du'as? Your supposed to help me not make me more miserable.
I stopped praying. I LOST FAITH.

Time passed by. I started realizing I wasn't as miserable as I used to be.Allah not answering my du'aa was actually a blessing in disguise.

Now I couldn't imagine myself going back to that life.This whole time I was angry that Allah wasn't answering my du'aa, when Allah was protecting me this whole time.Alhamdiliah I was given strength to pray again.

When Allah does not answer your du'aa, know that it's for the better. Allah knows what's best for you. Do not be disappointed when your du'aa isn't answered. Know you have something better coming your way instead.

Keep faith and have patience. Everything happens for a reason." -
