Chapter: 24

Allison Petterson

After a few moments, an older couple emerged from the small farmhouse. They both had smiles on their faces. Nathan talked about how they offered to allow him to live with them, but he did not feel that it was right. He wanted to do things on his own, so that is what he did.

I am very proud of how he handled the situation that his parents had left him in. He did everything on his own. I hate that I am currently not working, because I feel like I'm taking advantage of him. I think he could tell that I was over obsessing with something in my head because he squeezed my hand.  I looked up and smiled.

"Let's go." He pointed his head towards the older couple on the porch, waiting for us to come up there.

I just nodded my head. I felt that it did not need any type of verbal reply.  He led me to the porch. Once he reached the older couple, he released my hand so that he could hug them.

Me, well... I just stood there. I did not know these people and I did not know what to do. "Come here dear." The older woman gestured for me to hug her. I slowly went over to her and hugged her. She squeezed me. "I am SO happy that my Nathan has found and married such a lovely girl."

As she released me, I smiled. "Thank you."

"Anytime, my dear. What was your name again?" She said with a light laugh at the end.

"I am Allison." My voice was somewhat quiet.  Her smile grew even bigger. "Ah, so you are the famous Allison that we were so lucky to hear about from day to day." I was in shock the hear that. He talked about me a lot. Really? That's just mind blowing.

I just looked over to Nathan, knowing that he overheard her say that. His cheeks were tinted red. He is so blushing. I had to let a smile creep onto my face. "Are you for real?" I asked the woman in front of me.

She laughed. "Of course I am dear. I'll tell you the stories over tea." I looked over to Nathan, who was very much embarrassed right now and smirked. "That sounds lovely." I replied.  I followed her into the house, while Nathan stayed with the man on the porch, reminiscing.

I sat down at the kitchen table, while she made tea. "I'm Marbella, by the way. If you want, you can call me Mrs. Fenton or Ma. It's up to you honey."
