Chapter: 30

Allison Petterson

Our ride home was defiantly an awkward one. I cannot believe what Cassie said earlier. Twins? How? The doctors would have told me, right? We left there both in a daze. I was bothered by what she said and so was Nathan.

We pulled into the garage. He shut off the car and got out. Well, I guess he is not going to speak to me. I open up the passenger door and struggle to get out. I did not think that he would help me, but he ended up helping me out of the car. I offered a thank you smile to him.

We made our way towards the door. As we entered, I shut off the alarm. I walked behind him as he made his way to the kitchen. “Nathan?”

”Yeah Honey?” He turned to look at me. The look on his face was unreadable.

“We haven’t even talked about earlier.” I admitted. I did not look up to his gaze. I know that he was staring at me, but I just could not look up.

I felt him pull my chin up. I let my eyes look into his. “There is nothing to discuss. If we are having twins, that is fine. We will deal with that when we go to the doctor for the 3D ultra sound on the 24th.”

I just nodded. He kissed my cheek and pulled away. There is one question that I have been dying to ask him. “Will our vehicles work for us having a child?”

He turned to look at me. “We can discuss that another day.” He sighed when he saw my face turn into a pout. “My truck will be okay, but I don’t think your car will.”

I bit at my lip. “What should we do?”

He sighed and ran his hands through his spiked up hair. “We will discuss it later. Please? I have to work on something’s outside.”

I heaved a sigh and mumbled, “Of course you do.”

“What was that?” His voice sounded annoyed. I sighed again and said, “Nothing. Go do your work.”

He sighed angrily and set his phone, wallet, and keys onto the kitchen counter. He walked off to our bedroom to be changed. I just propped myself onto the island and laid my head down onto the cool granite countertops. He seems like something else is bothering him. I just wonder what?

I heard him return but I did not look up. I kept my head on the countertop.  He then proceeded to slam the door. I shot up. “Was that really necessary?” I asked myself.

I just rolled my eyes. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed his phone light up with a call. I went over to it and I did not know the number. I slid it to answer the call.
