Chapter: 40
Allison Petterson
I got to hold them for a few minutes before they took them from me. Nathan looked over at me and said, “They are taking them to check them out love. It’s okay!”
I just nodded and looked toward where they took my babies. I jumped slightly when I felt his hand squeeze mine. I looked over to him and he looked proud. “You did good baby.” He praised me. I just looked at him and smiled. “Thank you for being here with me!”
He kissed me gently on the lips. As he pulled away, he kept his face close to mine. “I will always be here for you.”
I just smiled and pecked his lips once. Once I pulled away, I threw my arms around him and kept him close. I cannot believe that those precious little beings are ours. The doctor came in and ruined our moment. “Dear, we have to get you all cleaned up and then we will have you in a room.” She informed me.
I just nodded. She looked at Nathan and said, “You can go tell the family that you have two perfectly healthy babies.”
My babies are healthy. Relief washed over me at that point. She looked back at me and said, “We have to clean your cervix out.” OH crap!

I looked back once more at Allison. She was on the delivery table still. She looked so tired, but I could not help but be proud of her. It takes a lot for a woman to give birth to a child and switch over to mommy mode. She gave me two beautiful bundles of joy! I could not be happier than I am right now. Those two babies are so amazing. I love them already and I would do ANYTHING in the world for those two babies.
I could not wipe the smile off my face. I have a daughter and a son now. Wow! That is just crazy to believe, but seeing those babies made me realize what I live for. I made my way towards the doors at the end of the hall. I was still wearing that suit that they put you in when a baby is born. As I got to the double doors, I stopped. I had to catch my breath. My mind was racing. So much has happened today and it is going to take me a little to process. My babies. My own flesh and blood, well technically half of mine. They have half of Allison in them too. I just wonder whom they will act like.
Once I was ready to face our family, I made my way out the doors. Everyone was sat in the waiting room nervously awaiting the arrival of the twins. My mother-in-law was the first to notice me. She got up hastily and made her way towards me. She placed her hands on mine. “Is my baby okay? Are my grandbabies okay?” She rushed out hysterically.
“They are fine!” I squeezed her hands, trying to comfort her.
She let out a sigh of relief. Everyone else had now gathered around. “What do they look like?” My mother gushed. She looked so excited. I just smiled and said, “Holland looks a lot like I do, but she does have her mommy’s lips and nose. Other than those two things she looks like me!” I gushed. I was happy and so excited. I cannot wait to experience being a daddy.
