Stone was fighting with a male twice his size. He was the one who ripped Ices eye out. As soon as he was about to give the death blow to his head he heard a snarl that made his blood run cold. In the circle of River-pack his Alpha lay dead.

“The Great Alpha Aliac is dead!” snarled a river-pack mate.

The wolf standing near Aliac bent down to sniff her. “Wait! Shes-” he was cut off when Aliac tore his throat out. She stood up and glared at the remaining wolves. “Get out or I will kill you all!” she snarled. Her fur bristling with anger made her seem twice as big. The other wolves ran away and didnt turn back once.

Stone looked at Ice. She was still bleeding heavily. “Aliac! Ice is hurt!” Stone yelped. He ran to Ices side just in time to comfort her fall. Ice went unconcious and Mouse ran to her side. “We need to get her inside. I need to clean her wounds and stop the bleeding.” Mouse said urgently. “Stone and Kludd bring Ice to the entrance but dont go inside until I tell you its safe. Silver and Eva try to find some moss.” Aliac told them all.

They bowed their head and walked off. Stone walked off sullenly and decided to run off a few miles. There was too much to bear at his point. Ice had been scarred and chances were slim that she would make it. As Stone ran, he could hear the howls of the defeated River-pack, crying at there loss. He made it to a small creek before he had to stop and breathe. Bowing his head to the water he took deep drinks and listened for fresh kill. In the distance he heard elk running freely. God, Stone thought. That's the first elk i've heard in months. He decided to go back to the pack and tell Aliac.

When he got to the small clearing he saw Snow and Namara clearing out The Rocks. Mouse was bent over Ice and placing moss on her scarred face. Aliac sat alone watching them sadly. He walked up to Aliac and said “Ive scented elk near the creek. I could take Kludd and Eva and see if we can manage to hunt them.” Aliac thought for a moment and nodded “You should also scent mark. That way River-pack knows this is our territory.” Stone nodded and walked off to Kludd and Eva. “You two are going with Stone to hunt some elk. Report back to me in exactly one hour. Stay together and listen to Stone.” Both nodded in agreement and darted into the mass of trees, flanking Stone.

Back near the creek, Stone crouched into a hunting stance. Kludd and Eva followed suit. Three elk were standing by the water, heads bent towards the fresh water. Easy prey. Stone lunged first then Eva then Kludd. In perfect sync they atacked and brought the new kill back to camp. They threw it into a pile along with some mice they snatched on the way back.

Stone stood proudly when Aliac walked up to him and praised them. “Good Job all of you. This will feed everyone and no one will go hungry.” Stone nodded then went to check up on Ice. “How is she?” he asked Mouse. Mouse looked at him sadly and said “She may not make it. She lost a lot of blood and its still bleeding. Shes been unconcious for a while. I just dont know how to tell Aliac.” Stone bowed his head in grief and looked at Aliac. She was sniffing at the newly caught elk. She wouldnt survive losing Ice. Stone thought.
