"What do you mean you don't know where he is?" I lean forward with my elbows on my knees so that my chin can wrest against the palm of my hands. My eyebrows furrow in confusion. "Chris told you everything that was supposed to happen in the ritual. Surely he would've told you what all happened afterwards. Or at least tell you what he's doing with the bodies afterwards."
Tyler just shakes his head and leans back against the couch cushions which seem to swallow him whole. "From what he told us, sawyer and Jenna were to be burned once the ritual was complete. The fire engulfed them and Chris had to pour the ashes all over his body." He bites the inside of his cheek in deep thought before continuing. "He didn't say that Phil was supposed to be burned too. Obviously he wasn't if they had a funeral. If he had any plans with Phil after his passing then we know nothing about it."
I run a hand through my hair as agitation sets in me. "What's the point in you telling us that you can give us answers if you have no idea where He is?" I take a glance between Tyler and Troye. I look to Zoe as well but she's busy texting. How could she just be texting at a time like this?? Here I am stressing over finding the boy that I believed to be dead for two years and she couldn't give a care in the world about it.
Troye clears his throat and leans forward a bit so that he can look at me. "We don't know where he is or why Chris would've taken him. But we can give you some facts about the ritual to help you find out what happened to him. And if he is alive, we can help you try to find him." He bites his lip nervously and then looks over at Tyler. My brows furrow more as I stare at them with a confused expression. "But we'll only do it for something in return."
Of course. Nothing ever comes for free. I should know this by now, but I'm too caught up in finding the blue eyed boy to even think correctly at this point. "I don't have much to offer but I can do my best."
Troye nods. "We just need protection."
"Protection? From who? Chris?" I turn my head a bit.
"Yes. He did tell us not to tell or one of us would die." Troye gets a distraught expression on his face and looks down at his feet for a moment. "He knows we wouldn't mind if both of us died for a good cause, such as helping you with finding your soulmate, so he said he'd kill one of us then make one of us invincible so that we cannot die... So that we have to live without the other for eternity."
Damn. That's cold. Chris is definitely the last person in the world that you would want to cross. "
"I see." I bite my lip and look over at Zoe whose now paying full attention. "You can stay with us. And I'll make sure Zoe goes wherever you go. You can stay at the place we're at just so you can be out of sight in case they come back and find out that you told us. Deal?"
Tyler gives a small smile and squeezes Troyes hand. "See? I told you we'd be okay."
Troye gives a weak smile back at Tyler and then looks over to me again. "Firstly, there are ways to bring the human back."
That's all I need to get a tiny twist of excitement in my gut. "Okay. That's great. That means he can be alive and-"
Troye shakes his head and holds up a hand to interrupt me. "No. You need to listen to the full story." He gives me a harsh stare which instantly shuts me up. "You can bring the human back, but it comes with many consequences. The balance of nature does not mix with bringing people back from the dead. There is always a twist. Just like with vampires. Yeah sure you're fast, you're strong, you're immortal. But you have the never ending thirst for blood. You can't go in the sun without help from a witch, and so on." He pauses again to check that both Zoe and I are listening closely. "If Chris were to bring Phil back, he'd have to give him a part of himself. He'd also have to take from you, Dan."
