• Your POV •
I stared at him from across the room as he headed towards me, causing my breathing to hitch. His walk was so poised and elegant, so... intimidating.
"May I have this dance, my dear?"
His blueish-green eyes met mine as our hands did the same. His lips made contact with the back of my hand, giving it the slightest tip of an embracing kiss.
"You may."
He took my hand and led me to the dance floor, leaving the other girls in dismay. After all, who wouldn't be upset if he didn't pick them? He was rich, handsome, and most important of all, the prince. I was dancing with the prince.
The beat of the song matched my heart beat; rapid. If I wasn't wearing make-up, my blush would probably be as obvious as the Great Wall of China. The stares of the crowd made my romantic blush turn into an embarrassed one.
"Don't you worry, my dear. You're lovely. They're just jealous."
He kept his eyes on me as the glares continued.
"Hey, the only stare you need to care about in this room is mine," he whispered.
He lifted my face with thumb and index finger, causing me to face him.
"Thank you," I said while staring continuously into his eyes. They were as beautiful as him.
He chuckled. "What for?"
"This," I motioned to our dance. "You made me feel something completely different from my dances with other guys. Thank you."
"Anything for you."
The dance went on as the beat switched onto a slower one, signaling that another song was yet to start.
"Say, (Y/N), tell me more about yourself."
I gulped in nervousness. "I'm pretty boring. Don't want you sleeping in the middle of a dance."
"To me, you seem interesting."
"I guess I am, probably."
"What's the most recent big activity you've done?"
"Well, not exactly I did, but someone else did."
This triggered my tongue to spit out my recent heartbreak with my now former ex-boyfriend. I was sensitive to these kinds of things, but I felt comfortable with letting it out to Patri-I mean, Prince Patrick.
"Tell me." He held me closer to hear what I was going to say, even if he wasn't sure if I was going to let it out. Nevertheless, I did.
"A guy dumped me because he thought I wasn't good enough for him."
He gasped. "He's an idiot to think that."
Right after his gasp of shock, his voice became lower as if he was mad at who broke my heart.
"He is. Anyway, you?"
"Basically nothing. All I do is do my duties as a prince."
I raised my eyebrow at him. "A prince? You're the prince!"
"I'm an. But I'm boring."
"I said the same thing with me and I guess I'm not so boring, same might go with you."
He laughed slightly as the song ended, and he pulled me away slightly from the dance floor, running through the velvet halls of the huge palace.
"Where are we going?" I said, trying to catch my breath.
We stopped in front of a white wood and glass door leading to a balcony. He put the key inside to open it, and let me go inside first as a sign of being a gentleman.
"Woah," I gasped, taking in the scenery below me. The clouds were invisible, but the moon brought some of them out, and shone on the fountain that was adorning the beautiful flower gardens.
"Indeed." He looked at the scenery himself as if it was normal for him. It probably was.
"It's beautiful, you know?"
He looked like he wasn't listening to my previous compliment since he was staring at the floor, biting his bottom lip nervously. I don't understand, why are you so nervous about the floor?
"(Y/N)?"
"Yes?"
"Has anyone told you how beautiful you are?"
I blushed at his compliment and pulled a piece of hair behind my ear. "My dad did, but yes. Though I don't think I am."
"You are."
"Thank you."
He walked closer to me, and I not even daring to move back. His eyes made contact with my lips, and his lips did the same. The spark that rang between us as soon as our lips touched ran a shiver down my spine, eventually sinking into the kiss.
I guess today was a fairytale.
