(ANUSHKA'S POV)
"Ma'am, Sir Nicolas will be joining you shortly." Cortez told me politely before disappearing into the kitchen.
I sat there, thinking about the crazy day we just had.
It had all started this afternoon. Classes had ended and everyone had gone off to their magical training, that left me and Nicolas alone since he was in charge of my training. It had been the usual tyrannical routine. Sometimes I wonder if Nicolas is a Sadist, because he sure likes to see me suffer.
"That scent." He crumpled his nose. "You still haven't been able to control it?"
"What scent?" I sniffed my hand.
"The Angel scent you shower everywhere." He replied, irritated.
"Oh. Not yet." I shook my head. It was pain in the ass. Everywhere I went there would be boys (and girls) following me. And no, I do not mean that in a positive way. The lust in their eyes scared me to death. I got shivers everytime I thought about it.
"God it's so annoying. Let's go." He ordered.
"Where?!" I asked.
"To a place where we can find a temporary solution." He walked fast, I almost stumbled after him.
His driving wasn't the safest. I gripped my seat belt so tightly that my knuckles became white.
"Are you always such a rash driver or is it just when you're riding with me?" I inquired.
"The less time I spend with your Angel scent, the happier I am." Yes, Sir Nicolas Medas is a very noble and delightful company.
"Now that we are here." I said as Nicolas stepped out of the car. "Can you tell me where we are?"
Nicolas walked over to open my door (how very gentle-manly and uncharacteristic of him) he leaned in as he did so, his face now inches away from mine almost brushed against my ear. "Enchanted & Co." He whispered.
"What's that?"
"It's one of the most famous companies that sell magical items. You'll find a showroom almost everywhere. We have one here as well." He pointed to a lavender colored sign that read Enchanted & Co. in glowing letters.
"Now come on." He beconed me. Fascinated by the shop, I followed him inside.
It looked like an ordinary shop that sold show pieces. Well until Nicolas grabbed a silver knocker and knocked. We were then hit by a wave of glitter and the entire room changed. The lavender and white walls reminded the the same but the items changed fromed. Suddenly the ordinary things seemed enchanted. How did I know that? Well that's beacuse the goods burst with a purplish smoke and well.... frog eyes, broom sticks, unicorn hair and magic crystal weren't exactly normal gift items.
"Yes?" A girl stepped up to the front desk. She had jet black hair and a pale complexion. She was into the whole Gothic chic look, with the dark lips and eyes and back nails.
"I was look for something to disguise this horrid....I mean Angel scent." Nicolas corrected.
"For your girlfriend? " She asked pointing at me. My stupid face chose this exact moment to turn pink.
"She isn't my girlfriend." Nicolas replied flatly.
"Oh?" She said, twirling her hair. "Then do you have one?" She leaned in.
"The elixir." He demanded.
"Geez. Alright." She dissappeared behind a curtain. "Here. This should work." She nodded.
"How much?" He asked.
"You don't have to-" I called.
"Shut it stupid girl. How much?" Stupid girl? STUPID GIRL?! Ugh that asshole.
"That'll be 40 dollars." Producing the money out of this wallet he paid the stupid flirtacious goth chic and we left.
As soon as we stepped out of the store, Nicolas seemed to go stiff.
"What's wro-?" He clasped his hand over my mouth. Hurriedly he grabbed my hand had pushed me into an alley next to the shop. My heart rate had begun to quicken.
"What?!" I demanded. He put a figure to his lip in a silent 'shh'. Despite the lack of sunlight in the cornered alley, I reddened.
Both his hands we on either side of me and his chest bearly inches away. I tied not to be conscious of his breaths that ruffled my hair softly. Why was I like this? Why did I want to melt into his arm this very second? Why was his smell so intoxicating. I couldn't concentrate on anything else.
"AH!" I let out a loud scream.
Nicolas' wings were extended and now bleeding. A hooded man behind him had brought down his sword down on Nicolas' s extended wings. Normally that wouldn't do much damage since Angel (and Fallen angel) wings were made of a extremely tough protein, hard enough to cut through steel.
"Charmed sword." Nicolas cursed and he whiped around and thrust his attacker with his palm. The man let out a horrid scream of agony.
"Run!" Nicolas ordered. And so I ran. As I paced my way to the parked car I was met by another attacker. He leaped from the shadows and brought down a knife near my neck. I eyed the knife uneasily. They are useful for cutting vegetable...but flesh? Especially human flesh? Yeah no.....
I jammed my heel on his shin and took the moment of suprise and ran towards the car. By this time Nicolas was on my heels.
"Get in! Get in fast?!" He yelled. And I did so......
And now we are here. In his house...er mansion. Well at least I am. He if off trying to play detective.
"Madam, Young Master is back. He is waiting for you at the dinner table."
I walked into the dinning room. A huge one. With a large twelve seater table and a gigantic victorian chandelier. The room was dimly lit by bulbs casting a yellowish candle- like light. The table itself was of Maghony and of the highest quality.
In the middle sat candlesticks, although they were for show. As for the rest, food was set and Nicolas sat at one end of the table. I sat opposite to him, in the other corner.
"Bon appetite" He said blandly.
"Bon appetite" I replied. Wow, first shopping then a long driver and now dinner? It almost seems like a date... from a horror movie.
