Sleepless Night

ANUSHKA'S POV

I found it weird, the way my heart was beating wildly against my chest. Surely having dinner has never been a matter of concern for me. In fact, it is one of my hobbies. But today it felt different. I didn't have much appetite, especially with Nicolas sitting right across from me. We had yet to make conversation, but the silence was soothing. Just sitting here with him in the dimly lit room made me feel at home. The strong Fallen Angel aura didn't even bother me. How surprising. 

"What's wrong? Is there something wrong with the food? You aren't allergic to any of the ingredients right?" He asked. 

"No. Um, I'm fine. The food's great. I just don't have the appetite." I shrugged. 

"It is... The house. Is it bothering you?" He asked. This kind of treatment from him was surreal. Was he concerned about me?

"No" I lied. In truth, I did have a problem here. It made me restless. But with Nicolas here it didn't bother just as much.

"Fine. But I won't ask again so if there's anything, tell it now." Yup, he's back to his d-bag self.

"No. I'm fine."

"We leave tomorrow morning so get ready."

"We're going back to the Academy right?" I asked just to make sure.

"No. To the nearby Church. I think one of the weapons is hidden there."

"A.. A Church?" I muttered. "How will to you-" Nicolas stopped me short.
"I won't.You will. It looks like you have some use after all." He scoffed. That good for thing tool. I have many uses!

We were in danger of submitting to the silence once more when Nicolas' phone rang.

"Hello." He answered. I could faintly hear the voice on the other end. It strongly resembled Sebastian's.

"Where are you?" It was loud enough for me to make out. Sebastian didn't seem too happy over the phone. But you can't blame him we were gone for a day without any trace. Both our phones had died due to low battery. It was now that Nicolas had bothered to charge it.

"I'm at my house."

"What?! Leave that, why weren't you picking up our calls? And is Anushka with you?" He mumbled all his questions in a hurry.

"Seb calm down man. I'm just fine. And, yeah Anushka is with me."

"Let me talk to her!" This was Anannya's voice."

"What? Wait! Me first!" This from Nate.

"Everyone, don't bombard them with questions." Sebastian tried to calm everyone down.

"What's up man?" This from Blake.

"Stop it, I need to talk to her!" Madhulika yelled over Blake.

"Stop it!" Nicolas yelled in a deep baritone. "You're giving me a headache."

"We'll call you later then." Sebastian's voice was heard. But before cutting the line I could hear Anannya screaming "Tell that dimwit to charge her phone!" As soon as Nicolas' phone hit the table, he enlightened me with one of his glares.
