(ANUSHKA'S POV)

Today, we were in for a not so pleasant surprise. If you though dealing with Paris and Chris and their clichéd personalities, you were wrong.

"Oh no, they're here." Chelsea had on a horrid expression.

"Who are you talking about?" Anannya asked. It was lunch time and Anannya, Chelsea and I were trying to find a place to sit.

"I'm talking about THEM" Chelsea nodded at a group of people. Or rather a crowd. There were about three to four heart-throbs grouped in a corner, chatting up some girls in Versace. Another group of leather clad, dark hair punks engrossed in conversation.

"They don't look very nice." Anannya observed.

"They aren't." Chelsea clarified. "I'd stay as far away from them as possible. Don't get on their radar. If you thought being bullied by Paris is bad, then you don't even want to imagine what they'll do to you." A a cold shiver ran up my spine. I, under no circumstances wanted to experience that.

'Hey," Blake said as he passed us, we muttered 'hi's in response. He then joined the punks and they acted like he was their brother.

"What's that about?" I asked.

"Oh shit! No one told you guys about the 'Food Chain' on Brixton Academy right? I guess we need to go through the basics."

"Whats up?" Sneha asked, and she and Madhulika took a seat next to us.

"Learning about Brixton Academy's food chain" I answered.

"Food Chain?" Madhulika exclaimed.

"She means Brixton Academy's social hierarchy." Anannya clarified.

"Oh." Madhulika looked relieved.

"Oh yeah, people have mentioned 'The Totem Pole'"

"Yeah, the hierarchy is sometimes called the 'Totem Pole". But its popularly known as the "Food Chain" because is its more predatory then social." Chelsea explained.

"That doesn't sound too good." I remarked.

"It isn't." Chelsea answered. "Okay, so you see those snobs here?" she asked as she pointed at the group I was talking about earlier. "That guy in the purple shirt is James, a Wizard and hes a Senior. He is on the Student Council, best grades, extra credit and all that. Teachers love him, they think he is some sort of Messiah. But is totally opposite. he is just a stuck up snob. And there the girl with him, that's Janice, the queen of Bitches. Ahem, I mean witches. The other two guys are Dylan and Thomas and their girlfriends, Emily and Cecile. They form the Snobs, or as they like to call themselves, the Preps."

"Who bad are they?" I asked.

"They inspired Paris." Chelsea answered. That cannot be good. Not in the least.

"And then there are the Punks. Headed by non other then James' sister Helena. In that group along with Blake there are Phil, Berta, Theo and Frank. They are the badasses apparently. These two groups are top games around here. And they like to fight for power. Mostly these guys are Juniors and Seniors."

"The second group is Aura, Derek, Shawn and Robin. As you know Aura and Derek are Hunter Reps and Shawn is the Vampire Rep. Robin is the pack alpha and the Werewolf Rep. They don't cause any trouble but unless you've got tremendous talent and a whole lot of guts, don't challenge them."

"The third rank belongs to Nicolas alone." Anannya nudged me, I glared in return.

"Fourth is divided between two Sophmore groups, one in which Nate is there, the other in which Chris and Paris are there." I knew the latter group well enough.

"Greg is the head of the Fifth group. I'm a part of it. So is Jeremy." we all stared at Chelsea wide eyed.

"Ahem, moving on, after us come the party goers, dancers, then the fashionistas, student council members, then the artists then the Nerds and then wall flowers and lastly the outcasts."

"We're part of a very powerful circle aren't we?" Sneha mused.

"But wait, where does that put us?" I asked. A monachopsis feel came over me.

"You have yet to leave your mark."
