Picture attached is the flooding on my way home which was about an hour before it covered the last remaining highway.
(Ali's POV)

"I don't understand I thought Jamie was the youngest." I asked my voice full of confusion.

"She is.............Now." He whispered.

"What happened?" I whispered back to him.

He nodded his head in the direction of the beach and I understood him. I silently followed him outside and down the beach until he was sure the others couldn't hear or see them. He sat in the sand and I carefully sat next to him.

"Michael was my baby brother." He started.

"He was six years younger than Jamie and absolutely adored me. He would follow me everywhere once he could walk and sometimes I wouldn't even notice him following me." He let out a small laugh at the thought. "One day I was going to a nearby lake lake with a couple friends for a celebration of finals being over. The current was really sting in the river is why we always picked it. Michael never followed me to the river because he knew it was dangerous because I had warned him several times. He usually always stayed away from the river even when I went in the water so I never imagined he would be there that night." I let out a soft gasp. "I jumped in the water to start the fun and when I came up my friends were standing on the bank looking like they'd seen ghosts. I asked them what was wrong and one told me that Michael jumped in the river behind me before they could stop him. My body was the body of a high school Sophmore who was an Alpha and could withstand the current but Michael was only a 7 1/2 year old little boy. I swam down the river until I finally found him. He was underwater with a branch going through his chest. I jumped out of the water and called the pack doctor who got some people to pull him out of the water and stitched up his wound for the funeral. I haven't cried once or gone in any water since his funeral. Well, the water part is a lie because I've gotten in the water twice while I was with you."

They both fell silent looking off into the water. That is until he broke the silence a few moments later.

"I'm actually surprised you didn't know. Your family came to the funeral."

"I was a Freshman in high school and that's right around when I stopped going with my family to see yours. I remember a funeral but I didnt know who it was and I stayed home because I didn't know who it was. I didn't know it was your brother." I ended in a whisper, not being able to speak the words louder.

I snuck a glance at Gavin and saw he had his face buried in his hands with his elbows resting on his knees.

Maybe it was the mate bond or maybe it was just me, but i couldn't resist the urge to lean over and wrap my arms around his body. What really shocked me though is when he returned the gesture and held me tight against his chest with his face nestled
into my neck.

We stayed that way until the sun was setting and the others would soon begin to wonder where they were. At that point he untangled us and stood. But he did next may have changed everything. He offered me his hand to help me but didn't let go when I got on my feet. He simply entwined our fingers and led me back down the beach.

I have more doubts as the days pas that we can stay just friends.

A/N : I live in Missouri where all the major floods are happening and it's crazy. All the highways out of around where I live are closed because they're flooded with water that's even over the sandbags. Plus my middle school I went to a few years ago flooded really bad and a lot if my friends and family had to evacuate their homes because they flooded. Please keep Missouri in your prayers as we try to recover from all the damage that the water caused.
