I sat outside the pack house with a little girl with black curls sitting in my lap. I began braiding her hair in pigtails, occasionally pulling small twigs out her dark hair. Little Evelyn liked playing with the boys, which often resulted in small cuts and bruises, and dirt everywhere. I finished her second braid as her mother walked over to us.
"I'm so sorry she insists on coming to you so often Luna." She apologized.
I smiled at her and stood up, placing Evelyn on her feet as I did so.
"I always love it when she comes to see me, don't worry Mary."
She sighed, smiled back at me, and grabbed Evelyn's hand.
"Evelyn, say goodbye to Luna and let's go eat lunch."
The little girl jumped in excitement at the word 'lunch' and quickly embraced my legs. I leaned down to hug her and she took off running.
"Bye Luna!"
"Thank you Luna!"
I laughed as I watched black curls running in the distance and her mother chasing after her, yelling for her to stop.
Luna. It's been 2 years since I moved in with Gavin and today was the day we officially accepted the titles of Alpha and Luna. The ceremony was tonight and to say I was nervous is an understatement.
Two large hands grabbed my waist and caused me to jump in surprise. Gavin laughed in my ear and I turned ti look at him. He smiled at me before wasting no time in kissing me.
"I would like some little time with you before my mom comes to take you away to prepare for the ceremony."
"That's sounds like a great idea, what did you have in mind?"
"I have lots of things in mind for you and me, but with the ceremony tonight I have to be on my best behavior. So, with that in mind, let's go eat lunch together."
I blushed at his implied meaning to the first statement and smiled at the second.
"The lake house?"
He picked up a picnic basket and smiled at me.
"The one and only."
On our 1 year anniversary, Gavin blind folded me and brought me out to a "secret" location. That "secret" location was a lake with a small house next to it that Gavin had discovered when he was a little kid.
Apparently it was an abandoned hang out for the pack teenagers. Over the years fewer and fewer teens went to the hang out, and eventually it was left empty. When Gavin found it he fixed it up with the help of his dad and now it's his hide away.
We walked through the hidden path and when we reached the opening Gavin let go of my hand.
"Race ya!" He yelled as he took off running.
"Not fair!" I yelled, chasing after him.
My speed had increased over the years and I caught up to him soon, I'm sure due to his slight slow down.
I jumped on his back and we toppled into the grass. Thankfully he had heard me coming and set the picnic basket down before I had jumped.
