Ch.19

(Lexi's POV)

     "How do you think they'll respond when we tell them?" Liam asked.

     "I think my mom will get mad I didn't tell her right away and my dad will probably try to intimidate you." I answered him.

     We were on our way to my house to tell my parents about us being mates and even though Liam wouldn't admit it, I could tell he was nervous.

     Peter, Jamie, and Matt had all stayed at the pack house to catch up with what happened with Gavin and Kat so we took our opportunity for a little privacy with my parents.

     I took a deep breath before I put the key in the lock and opened the front door. My parents already knew Matt and I would be coming home today but little did they know I was bring Liam as well as some news I didn't think they'd like.

     My mom must have heard  the door because she was running down the stairs ready to pounce when she reached the bottom. As soon as her feet hit the floor she ran to me and wrapped her arms around me so tight I almost couldn't breath.

     "Oh Lexi! I'm so glad your home! Justin, get in here!"

     My dad came around the corner and into the living room drying his hands on a dish towel.

He beamed at me and opened his arms for a hug. I pried my mother off me and ran towards him.

"I missed you Lex!" He exclaimed.

"I missed you too dad."

"I missed both of you." I told my parents.

"I do have a surprise for both of you though....." I trailed off.

"Well go on then hun, what is it?" My mom encouraged.

I went over to Liam, who was still awkwardly standing by the door, and wrapped my arms around him. He returned the gesture and I could see the wheels beginning to turn in my dad's head.

"We're mates." Liam and I said in unity.

Dead silence.

It was so quiet I could hear the others all the way back at the pack house. A few moments passed before my mom broke the silence.

"Lexi Alicia Manning. You didn't even bother to call me with this news?" My mom voice was calm but was laced with a tone so scary I leaned closer to Liam.

Ever heard of the calm before the storm? Yeah, that's my mom.

"Yes?"

"LEXI ALICIA MANNING! HOW DARE YOU?! THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CALL YOUR MOTHER ABOUT! YOU DO NOT JUST SHOW UP AND ACT LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL. ITS A BIG DEAL!" She screamed.

At that point we were all frozen in our tracks. Neither Liam or my dad wanted to be the one to move and get her wrath redirected at them.

"Mom, I'm sorry ok?! I didn't want you to be upset anymore than you needed to be about me leaving!"

"Excuse me, leaving?!" My dad spoke up.

"Yes. I'm going back to Liam's pack to be the Luna." I stated.

"Liam, can I talk to you in the kitchen?" My dad asked. Well, asked is a questionable explanation of his tone.

He swallowed and I could feel his nervousness. I squeezed his torso and removed my arms. He quickly walked to the kitchen sparing me one last frightened glance.

(Liam's POV)

"Go ahead Liam, take a seat."

I sat down in a kitchen chair to the left of the head of the table, knowing any wolf with Alpha blood in their veins has an instinct to be at the head of the table.

He gave me an approving smile and sat across from me.

"Thank you for the respect Liam but I want to have a conversation with you man to man. I understand you'll be taking over as Alpha when you turn 21, correct?" He asked.

"Yes sir."

"Oh don't call me sir, call me Justin. I suppose you being future Alpha you plan to take my daughter back to your pack with you?"

"Yes si-... Justin."

"And when do you plan to do that?"

"As soon as she's packed."

"Is she ok with this?"

"Yes I had a deep discussion with her about it and she agreed."

Justin nodded his head and then looked me straight in the eye.

"You hurt my baby girl and I'll put my wife on your trail. Do you understand me Liam?"

"Yes. But to be clear I would NEVER hurt her."

"Good."

He nodded at me once more and we went back into the living room where Lexi and her mother were.

As we stepped into the room Eli turned to me and pointed a finger directly in my face.

"You. Alpha or not, you hurt my baby girl and I swear to goddess I will cut off your penis and force feed it to you. Do you understand?"

I rapidly nodded my head.

"Yes ma'am."

She smiled at me and pulled me into a motherly hug.

"Good. Welcome to the family then." She gently stated.

Who caught the reference that Eli and Ali gave their daughters each other's names as middle names???? I'm sorry I haven't updated in a little while I've been really busy but I'm already writing the next chapter!
