(Kat's POV)
Two weeks and three days. That's how long it had been since I left the cabin. That's how long I'd been sulking around my house trying to decide what to do.
My mom had tried to get me to leave the house. I never did. After awhile she gave up trying and decided to just let me sulk. Lexi had somehow gotten my number, probably from Liam, although he'll never admit it, and had been texting me ever since I had left the cabin. One day, around 1 week after I left, I asked about Gavin. Little did I know it would only make me feel worse.
Me: How is he?
Lex: He says he's ok.
Me: Well what do you think?
Lex: I think he misses you a lot and he just doesn't want to admit it.
Me: Is he taking care of himself?
Lex: I wouldn't know. He hasn't left his room since you left.
That hurt more than I thought it would've. The more time that had passed the more I felt the mate bond taking affect. Our wolves were hurting not being near each other and they were taking it out in us.
Around three days before they were scheduled to come back my mom came into my room and threw a pair of car keys at me.
"What's this?" I asked her.
"You're going to go see a very close friend of the family's."
"Who?"
"Ali."
"Ali? As in Gavin's mom?!"
"Also Peter and Jamie's mother but yes that Ali."
"Why would I go talk to his- their mom?"
"You and Ali have something in common. Your both mated to stubborn Manning Alpha men."
Of course I had told my mom about Gavin and I once I got home from the cabin."It's not as much him being stubborn as it is what happened between us before I left."
"Katie Wilder. You're not telling me your going to let one fight come between you and your mate."
"I never said that."
"Then why are you still here? I talked to Ali and she said she'll be happy to let you stay as long as you'd like. Now go pack and get on the road."
I opened my mouth to protest but quickly closed it when my mother shot me a look. I was going to the Manning's territory whether I liked it or not.
~
About an hour later I was starting to get on the road. I had packed a large duffel bag with all of my essentials that I would need for a few days up to a week. I loaded my bag into the trunk of what appeared to be my mom's old Jeep she had in college. It was about an hour drive to their territory so I programmed the GPS and attached my phone to the stereo so I could play my music. After a quick goodbye to mom I set out on the road and began to prepare myself for whatever was to come.
~
Numb. My butt, was numb. I had been driving for close to an hour now and I was only 10 minutes away when I began to feel, or not feel, that my butt was numb from sitting in the same position too long. That's probably why once I reached the driveway of the Manning house I jumped out if the Jeep and began to jump around and stretch. It definitely caused a few pack members heads to turn that's for sure.
After I successfully had feeling back in my legs the nerves set back into my stomach. I hadn't seen Ali in years and I had no idea as to what her reaction would be to finding out I was her sons mate.
Her werewolf hearing had apparently picked up the sounds on my feet moving the gravel and she chose that moment to swing open the front door and beam at me.
"Katie dear! Come on in, I haven't seen you in ages!!!" She cheered.
I placed a tight smile on my face to try to cover my nervousness and prepared for what I was getting into.
