Candidate1: Hi, it's amazing to be here!
InkCloud: So, let us begin straight away, if that's okay. What makes you want to join our crew?
Candidate1: Well, I do have a reason that I've wanted to all my life, but it's kind of embarrassing ...
InkCloud: Go on. This interview is completely confidential, just between you and me. And possibly Tweak if she's managed to hack into it, since she can with most things. And probably has.
Candidate1: well... I've always had a huge crush on Peso, your medic, and i'd love to join the crew so I can maybe get to know him?
Candidate1: As I said, it's kind of embarrassing ;D
InkCloud: Yes. Erm. Okay ... do you have any - other reasons that you'd like to join?
Candidate1: Well, yeah, I want to make a difference to the world and help creatures and stuff
Candidate1: But - that's the main reason, yeah ;)

Candidate2: Hey, I heard you were looking for a new engineer for the Octonauts!
InkCloud: Er, no.
Candidate2: oh. Right. It's not an engineer you're looking for, then?
InkCloud: No.
Candidate2: Are you sure? I mean, isn't your engineer getting tired after how long he's been there?
InkCloud: I don't think so, no. Tweak is a very competent engineer and she's a great asset to our crew.
Candidate2: a female?
InkCloud: Of course. Is there a problem with that at all for you?
Candidate2: No! Of course not, I just expected - I just ... never mind.
InkCloud: Good.
Candidate2: Is she looking for an apprentice? I could be that instead?
InkCloud: No, I don't think so. I'm sorry.
Candidate2: oh. This is slightly embarrassing, then, isn't it?
InkCloud: Just a tiny bit, yes.

Candidate3: sup, prof
InkCloud: Greetings.
Candidate3: it's just so totally awesome to b here
InkCloud: So, to begin, is the aspect of travelling something which you'd be up to?
Candidate3: no
Candidate3: JK!! - yeah, totes! YOLO and all that
InkCloud: Er, yes. Whatever you just said.
Candidate3: soz if I'm not making sense, it's just I'm super duper excited to be talking to you 2day! :D
InkCloud: Is it alright if you can refrain from using... *shudder* ... emoticons for the duration of our conversation? They and I share a somewhat - mutual dislike.
Candidate3: sure dude, that's totes cool with me
InkCloud: Can you also please attempt to speak with something resembling a coherent sentence?
Candidate3: lol yeah soz
InkCloud: ... The effort is much appreciated. Anyway, what made you apply for our crew?
Candidate3: IDK really. BTW I guess i'm a bit bored, so I applied

InkCloud: I'm sorry, I'm really not understanding what you're trying to say. I think we'll finish this interview here.

InkCloud: So, why did you apply for this position?
Candidate4: Um - er - I - I ... don't know.
InkCloud: You don't know?
Candidate4: I guess I - I guess ... um
Candidate4: you know, I have something to confess to...
Candidate4: *whispers* I don't really want this job at all. This whole application thing has been a lie
InkCloud: Er. Might I inquire as to why?
Candidate4: it's just that my mum made me apply so I could get out of the spare bedroom and go move somewhere where I could 'make a difference to the world'.
Candidate4: she's big on nature and saving the planet and all that
InkCloud: And you're not?
Candidate4: um - not really
InkCloud: So you're not actually interested in applying to the job - but you're currently applying to the job?
Candidate4: yes...
InkCloud: And you're telling me all this in our interview?
Candidate4: yes
Candidate4: *starts to sob hysterically*
Candidate4: I'm sorry! I just can't do this!
(Candidate4 has logged off)
InkCloud: ... There's another one to cross off the list.
Online: InkCloud, Candidate5
InkCloud: Well, your application is very promising, and you've shown you have just the right attributes for our crew. You love helping creatures, and you're very scientific, and you work well as part of a team. You seem ideal for the Octonauts.
Candidate5: thank you, professor :)
InkCloud: Is there anything you wish to tell me, before I go and make my decision? Anything that you're worried about, or might hinder your work as an Octonaut?
Candidate5: Well, I am scared of water.
InkCloud: Oh right, okay - I'm sorry, what?!
InkCloud: You're scared of water?
Candidate5: Yes. I have been all my life. Is it a problem?
InkCloud: If I might ask, if you're scared of water, why are you considering joining the Octonauts - a crew that works and lives underwater?
Candidate5: Well, I wouldn't have to go out in it that much, right?
InkCloud: Well that is kind of the general idea, yes...
Candidate5: oh
