The day passed by too slow and too quickly at the same time. Maybe I'm not making sense anymore. I can't face anybody without reminding myself they almost died because of me.
I still sense the smoke like I still am in the woods. I hate myself at this time. I know that I fell for a filthy trap and I know who just made it happen. At the time I see the girls free, I will kill Diego's boss, doesn't matter how much time I need, he will not live to do any more harm again.
Suddenly I hear a knock on the door.
- Yes...
José comes in, not sure if he will be ignored by me again or if I will give him a break. I already thought enough about my next steps, but I'm too weak now to face him.
- Don't fight me off again Night, please. I need to talk to you. I need to be close to you. Make sure you're alright.
His pleas breaks a little my defenses, but I'm not ready to let it go already.
- I'm not alright José...
- I know. But we need you to let yourself for now. I have to tell you something really important...
His expression lets me curious and worried, but my neutral gaze didn't change as usual. Everything that I am is in me and will die with me. As if José could read my soul however, he speaks almost imediately for my utterly surprise:
- Lili and Diego had been away for sometime now. I guess they lied about where they were going and they went to the warehouse where suposedly the girls were hidden. They found the scientist alone, no girls, no guards, they thought there was no hope to find those girls alive. But now the guards know that what's happened to you, is happening to them too. They are having cravings. They brought the girls again alive. We don't have much time... If we want to catch them and free the girls we need to hurry up. And please don't just say no to a little help. They will don't mind as long as you can free them from their hell. The guards are weak now. They can't get of their hole while there are still sunlight.
- None of you are making any sense at all. Even if I take that "help" which increases my guilt dramatically, I can't get out on the sun too. It's too much torture for me to endure.
This is getting nowhere but the almost naughty look in José's eyes is too noticeable to ignore.
- What?
- My dear Night... Let me introduce you to our plan.
*********
I can't believe I agreed with this plan, but now I have no choice and I can tell I'm shamelessly excited and too thrilled to end just all of this. According with Lili, my enough crazy-for-two-life-times best friend, going like a Rambo to the warehouse alone, the guards will wait until sunset to get out of the truck and replace the girls into the containers again and protect themselves into the warehouse.
My watch shows 17:00 exactly and I'm inside of a huge opaque bag and José and Diego are carring me to the back entrance of the truck.
The hard part is: to open the truck's back entrance. Artur with his fireman expertise, thought about destroying all the metal necessary to get inside of the truck with some weird huge scissors capable to bend and destroy the car's metal at the side of the entrance, regularly used by firemen in car accidents to free the victims inside of the crashed cars. But obviously it was too noisy, heavy and slow, even though it would freak out the guards for sure. Then a simple crowbar would need to do the work this time.
But even Artur beeing really tall and strong man, maybe his strenght could be not enough to make a clean job so my entrance would not be much of a surprise. That's when Domingos came to the scene. He is a big friend of Artur and a police officer too. That guy is huge... no, maybe extremely huge and his expertise is forcing entrances, house doors, car doors and of course: truck doors. I don't mind the kind of method, I just want to finish those bastards and free the girls once and for all.
Once inside of the truck, the guards will be hiding behind the victims for sure, at least I need to expect that, so Artur, Domingos and another police officer that also is with them, António, will point a gun in the head of the each guard. While they are distracted pointing guns to each other, I'm counting that the guards will not make a fuss about the huge bag behind the three police officers yelling at them. That bag will be thrown up by José and Diego, with me inside at my side position facing the back of the officers, I need to make sure I'm fast and precise because the girls will be at a huge risk. The neck or heart are the only places capable to stop them and me and my crossbow are more than ready.
I will need to open myself the bag fast and quietly enough, no hard moves, so the only time I will need to really move is to shoot the arrows usually positioned behind my back.
The problem is: they will be weak until the truck's door is opened. If somenone outside of the truck close the doors, or closed enough so the officers can see inside and the guards don't feel compelled to shoot randomly due to panic and rage, making more innocent victims in the process, my big advantage disapears because the guards can see as well as me in the dark.
So I needed a little help during that gap of time using some precious seconds before they can aknowledge what happened so at least put one of the guards down reducing their numbers. Now I'm wearing a pair of sunglasses that glues to my face so less chances that the sun rays can penetrate in my perypheral vision destracting me and for sure torturing me, even though I will not face the sun directly. I so just hope they didn't have time to think the same idea and wear a pair of them too.
Soon enough I feel the motions stopping and a loud thrust can be heard a moment after and I prepare myself and my best skills for the action.
